Nah... not quite. If Sherwood made top four, he would've finished out his 18-month contract. The whole thing was about Top 4 and the high-risk gamble that blew up in all our faces.

Well, obviously. Levy says there was a break clause after 6 months.

Hmm,I sense you may have some issues with Levy? You hide it well, but I get that feeling!

But Sherwood made it clear it wasn't about top 4; he was just told to score more goals....

Oh, he did say it was about top 4 as well, didn't he? Oh, it's hard to keep all his contradictory statements together - I should've started a book with them in, to keep track of them all ;)

Right out the Redknapp school of being a **** he is. Savvy in a way that as just like the aforementioned he is in favour with the media as a result of his motor gob.

I don't understand why anyone anywhere ever, for even a single heartbeat, thought Sherwood would be in charge next season.

Glorified caretaker. Always was. The only annoying thing is that because levy had to massage his ego he'll now go on record as one of x amount of permanent managers sacked in x amount of years.
Unlike say Houghton or Pleat for example.

If he had been announced as caretaker manager from the outset this debacle would never have happened. If he had succeeded he would be given the permanent position and if failed it would have been expected. Poor management in my opinion.

Nine managers in 16 years. Despite what a few deluded people might suggest, thems the numbers I think.

I genuinely believe those numbers are more a reflection of the lack of managerial talent than it is of our trigger happy nature.
I also think generally we've gotten stronger year on year with the odd hiccup.
I don't care if we change every year as long as the upward curve remains.

Other than Harry steadying the ship and even allowing for that, I can't think of one worth keeping. Bunch of charlatans in the main.

No, it would have been a different debacle. Remember Pleat?

It was win-win for Levy. If Tim excelled it was an inspired appointment by Daniel; if he flopped, he could dump him cheaply. The odds were always that the bar would be set too high for Tim to stay, but if he had got us CL or a cup win, Daniel would have stuck with him. Maybe even Europa playing exciting football would have done it.

While I don't think Sherwood is ready for first team management at a top club I really don't understand all this bitchy animosity towards him. He's honest, humourous, committed... I like Tim.

We'd have ploughman's lunches and a few pints in a nice country pub garden, maybe kick a ball around with the kids, pick some flowers for our wives then ride our bikes home for a nap. Oh England, how I miss you in the summertime.

So put your claws away, girls. Please. Enough.

Upward curve - what graph are you looking at? Cos if it's one showing our league finishing position increasing from 4th to 5th to 6th over the past 3 years, then upward curve is actually a bad thing!;)
