Jurgen Klopp's a great shout. Done a tremendous job at Dortmund. Still young, just 44, will perhaps be looking to move on from Dortmund to manage in different cultures/countries.

I'd also like to know the name(s) of the scouts who discovered all their young talent. Now THAT guy (or people) knows how to spot talent.

All bought for the price of a Bentley.

I too have reservations on Ancelotti, for Milan he was very inconsistent, but still think he is a safe enough pair of hands and the best manager available. I do think we should keep a close eye on Paul Lambert, it would be a huge risk, and might be too early for him, but it could result in large rewards. He knows how to get the best from his team.

If Sherwood is to be groomed as our next manager why doesnt he have more first team involvement from now?

I personally believe that the first big task for any managerial position is to win the respect of the players. Christian Gross has a fantastic record apart from one blemish, us, because he never won the respect of the players.

Although as an outsider I cannot tell, I believe if Sherwood were seriously being mentioned as Harry's successor (which by all accounts he is, and has been for some time) he would have to have that respect on the training ground and in the dressing room.

If I were a betting man, my money would be on Harry moving to DOF, with Sherwood moving up to first team coach/manager in a gradual transition.

I remember the rumours that Santini was brought in as a temporary stop gap, so that by the time Jol became manager, the players knew and respected him as a coach, rather than some unknown like Gross, I would not be surprised if Levy played the same trick again.

Yes thats true, Arnesen who was brought in a DoF wanted Martin Jol but Levy felt after a year in limbo under Pleat we needed a big name - Santini. Jol has said in interviews that Arnesen convinced him to come as a coach at first and be patient as he thought the Santini thing was not gonna work.

If Sherwood can motivate the players like Arry can then I am happy, I think people will always question mark him over tactics as I swear EVERYBODY is a tactical genius these days.

Ancelotti would be a great signing but really...how long would he stick around? Guys like Roberto Martinez, Paul Lambert and Brendan Rogers all are excellent managers ...I think one of these guys would warrant a shot at the big time but could they win over a dressing room of people like VDV, Adebayour, Modric, Bale..top drawer players in Europe

He arguably has a more important job then being simply a first team coach (which he is) and that is linking the youth team to the main team. In other words he is Clive Allen's and Inglethorp's boss. Its not exactly a small roll, especially considering he has only been a coach for a couple of years. Its clear he is rated. Apart from the odd ITK rumor there is nothing to suggest he will actually get the job though.

 Maybe it is abut timing.
He is playing a very active role in player integration as they move up the squads. Maybe the idea is that the bulk of our playing staff of the future will come from the acedamy/youth ranks*, and so, by getting to know them intimately, now, he will know them and have their respect by the time he is placed in a managment role. Something like how Barca have done it (only better, obviously ).

Obviously, the jailing/England-manager-ising of Redknapp will alter any timescale.

*Dan Levy isn't the type to spend a fortune on recruitment and training facilities for nothing.
