Looks suspiciously like the watched a YouTube vid of him and Ferdinand being interviewed about 5 years ago and then just printed some of it as his grand plan.

Someone posted the relevant vid in the hating Sherwood thread I think .

Weren't Dawson, King, Defoe, Huddlestone, Bale, Crouch and Lennon in our CL qualifying team?

Exactly it's ridiculous, the build a British core bit demonstrates that, Levy & Baldini just spent £100 million on 7 foreign players FFS! Plus the youth set up us now scouted and pulled from all over the globe!

Complete nonsense!
It's pretty funny that someone would try to pass that off as journalism, though it is goal.com...

Sounds pretty much identical to what the idiots phoning into talksport (or the idiots hosting the programs) are saying.

Hmmm at the moment that means
Walker, Dawson, Rose
Townsend, Lennon
Defoe
Midtable maybe.
O well on to the next manager then.

If English core is youngsters coming through academy then it's ok. Paying 10m more for a player just because he is English is not good IMO. And Levy probably won't do it. And Baldini.

1. Recall Adebayor and Assou-Ekotto
2. Build a British core
3. Let the wingers of the leash
4. Ditch the high line
5. Try two strikers as a Plan B
6. Play Levy's game

Any thoughts on this? Would you be happy if this was the way forward?

1. Recall Adebayor and we can't recall BAE?
2. Don't think we can
3. Not let them off the leash, but don't use inverted wingers
4. Definitely
5. At home, if we need a goal
6. N/A

Who would you suggest - where are these technically good English players? And why would English players not be focused on getting injured for the world cup when foreign ones are?

better quality i said, and have you not seen paulinho ducking out of challenges? it's just not in the nature of british players to duck out of challenges and they actually care when we lose games. did you see chadli laughing and joking on the pitch with the liverpool players after the game?

Yep. I think if you want to try to have an English core you'd need to follow the Soton model, where you rely heavily on great youth products and supplement with a few expensive foreign buys. Depends whether we'd be happy to play the waiting game on that and reduce expectations to bring young ones through?

If there was even a semblance of truth to that, which I sincerely hope there isn't, any of us could breeze and be manager lol

Bloody hell.

Yeah high Danny boy, fuck dat six point plan, I have an 8 point plan - yeah and I'll take 2 million a year for it, Ta.

Good point. Don't see ol' Franco scouting out English players!
We are way behind in terms of technical ability and skill (british players)
They are trying to lay the foundations for more technical players at grass root football.
This will take 10 to 15 years to come to fruition.
There are very few British talents available at this present time, thats why most clubs are looking abroad for talent.

Unless they can magic some players out of the air a "british core" will get you mid table at best unless we some how plan on getting bale back.

1. Ade and BAE - Fair enough. Can't argue with that one.
2. British core - Really? Our British players are our weakest ones (bar maybe Townsend and Walker) and there is a dearth of British talent to bring in. It's simply not needed.
3. Wingers - This is a very simplistic thing to suggest. The best teams this season haven't played with wingers, and the idea of two wide men is quite outdated.
4. Ditch the high line - Fair enough in some games, but again it's simplistic to say we shouldn't use it at all.
5. Try two strikers as a plan B - If he's talking about playing two wingers then surely two strikers is his plan A?
6. Play Levy's game - What does this even mean? Follow the whims and wishes of a non-football man? Sounds excellent.

Anyway I suspect this is all bollocks, but if it was true it does rather suggest we've simply gone back to Redknapp mk.2.

Sounds like a load of bollocks to me. Complete guesswork.

I could see them giving a couple of the youngsters a chance over the next few weeks though, and if the trio are still in charge in January I would think they would want Carroll back at the club.

To be fair, there are 3 young British players who I'd love and who I think would greatly benefit the team, but I don't think any of Barkley, Lallana or Shaw will be coming here any time soon..

Oh well, at least we have Carroll coming back to look forward to! (And that's not supposed to sound sarcastic)
