Absolutely raging at this sort of post!! Do you wonder why the guy is starting to look tired? Could it be because some other of our players don't like to cover the ground that he does therefore he has to do more look at the big picture instead of the individuals. Modders, Bale, Niko don't like doing a lot of donkey work, if they did a bit a more Parker might not have to do quite as much.

If hes tired then replace him with Sandro or Livermore its not rocket science, give the guy a break.

Then Livermore or Sandro have a bad game and Harry gets torn a new one on here. And that doesn't solve the problem that a few of our players shirk their defensive responsibilities. I rate both Livermore and Sandro but IMO Parker is first choice ATM.

Defoe came on for Parker, not Livermore or VDV and thats because he wasnt needed tonight.

Whilst also holding the fort of one of the laziest off-the-ball midfields in the country?

Parker has so much to do in our team, so much responsibility to allow players like Modric, Bale and VDV to do what they do. I don't see how you can question it.

It's no coincidence that Palacios' best form was with either Jenas or Hudd sharing his workload. Stick him next to Modric and you saw a different player.

HE is a bull dog that wins balls, probably the reason for any drop in performance has been on Harry's reluctance to place both Livermore and Sandro (even when both are fit) as part of a rotation and give him a break.

Almost every game he plays he gets 7 hells almost kicked out of him. Like the end of last season, our players all look knackered, because Harry ran them all into the ground with his inability to rotate successfully.

Still, think Palacios could have had a part to play in our team. I wonder how he would have got on with Parker in a 4-2-3-1.

Me too, didn't really want to sell him. He was mega against Milan, again with Sandro helping out. I think there was still a place for him here.

When Palacios first signed for us he was amazing, tenacious with great awareness and vision to boot.

Things in is life changed and he was and no longer is close to that player he was in the first 6 months with us so I doubt he would be very good in this current team.

You say that, but that's because we were dominating. The platform of Livermore and Parker allowed us to totally dominate the game.

Nelsen scored from the corner just after the change, ie the change had nothing to with the opening goal from the corner. They then needed to come out and the space opened up which we exploited. In the first game they were dominating against our 4-4-2.

In fact, towards the end they were looking more dangerous.

The point for me is we created more than enough with the 4-3-3, and had complete control of the game. We should of been 3/4 nil up before any of the changes. It was quite coincidental that we scored from a corner right after the changes, as they had nothing to do with that.

Clouding people'd judgement a bit I think, but at least Harry recognised the importance of starting with this line up in his post match interview.

Maybe, being next to Parker could have given him his confidence back.

it really isn't.
His reading of the game is still far better than Sandro's or Livermore's

He knows where to be to cut out the danger
While the other two might be the better footballers, they dont come close to what Parker has given us this season. He has been fantastic all season, bar a few games and has been what we have missed for a long time.

This post was pretty much the end of the thread for me. It's exactly that. Nevermind Livermore, Sandro is a better player then Parker is and will be for years to come, but what Scotty has brought us from the first day he came here was something we've lacked and needed for so long it's embarrassing. It's not a coincidence that we're are suddenly big fish ever since the time Parker joined us. He has done a lot for us and I think any criticism would be unfair, he's not there to score goals. With a midfield of van der Vaart, Bale, Modric etc. it's ridiculous to think we are criticising the defensive midfielder for not attacking well enough. Yeah, he's safe on the ball and is nothing spectacular going forward, but to overlook exactly what Parker does for us is absolutely insane.

That's not to say Livermore hasn't come on a lot though. This lad has really looked the part as a Premiership footballer which is strange as from what I heard he didn't really do too well in the Championship. But fair play to him, I'm yet to see him have a bad game really.

But Sandro is definitely the player we need here for the next ten years. The man just oozes quality. He is top class and keeping him is as pivotal as keeping Modric for me.

Agree with all of this.

Jesus H Christ. I think Parker should pretty much be allowed to go round to Wilson Palicios's house, have sex with his wife, play 4 in a row with his kids, and wank through his letterbox. The difference in ability is so massive it makes my balls ache.

Becos parker is english people have rose tinted glasses he is very good with the tackle and reading the game but everything else is awful and the last 7 games he looks burnt out. I think he must be in some sort of secret society or something becos I can,t believe that he is consider an automatic choice for england and spurs, plus captain. When he receives the ball from the defence he dose,nt turn he plays where he,s facing a lot of the time its like hes hiding and its like we miss an option in midfield the opposition leaves him free and try get tight to are other midfielders specially the other cm. This alone puts us one man down in attack if you don,t believe the next game watch him closely at spurs were trying to play total football that means everyone has to be comfortable with the ball I think at the start of the season he knew his place he would sit and do the water carrying job but I think winning spurs player of the month 4 or 5 times in a row (which must be a fix becos modric and bale and adie and Vdv were playing some great football at the time) got to his head. I think for a season it was a good signing it would of been better if Hr rotated him more giving him a rest and not burning him out.

I think Parker needs to stay back a bit more, love what he does defensively but when he gets forward he's really ineffective so he shouldn't bother. I think he needs a rest as he has hardly been rotated since he joined.

It would be nice if he passed it a bit quicker though, seems to dwell on the ball quite a bit before laying it back to the defence. Tbh if that was Jenas he would be slated for being mr cautious and mr sideways.

I actually think being English is a hinderance among most Tottenham fans.
