I am 99 per cent sure your position is also linked to your attendance... I went to 36 games home and away in the second year of my membership and leapt up something like 15,000 places. Whether it's right or wrong I have overtaken a lot of people I know who have been members for longer, but who go far less than I do.
I think you are right on attendance. The loyalty points help.

i'm about 2000

joined the summer they started the season ticket waiting list.

i was 4000th before this and last year they released some 1500 seats.

we now have about 25000 season ticket holders and a waiting list almost 30,000 long! and when our ground is built and capacity goes up to 55k, i believe they will only release about a further 10K season tickets and that wont be immediately as one stand will not be built in time!

so looks like we all have about 4 season more to wait and even then only 10K of the 30K will get offered a seat.

Man utd have failed to sell all of their season tickets this season and have been advertising for them!

In fact, only Spurs, Arsenal and chelsa in the PL have a waiting list.
London clubs are in fashion it seems

I got offered a season ticket last year but had to turn it down, didn't get offered one this year but still around 400th on the list. Unfortunatly even if I got offered one I wouldn't be able to take it up :-(

i only have 50 loyalty points so cant see me improving on my 15039 place on the list this year! although should get over three times this season which will help a bit but im in no rush for next couple of years

a question, if i got a season ticket and couldnt go to game e.g villa at home and put the ticket up for a match on our ticket exchange thing, would i get the money from the sale of the ticket or does the club get it?

Sid - the club would get it in the short term and you would get the money taken off the price of your season ticket the following year, is how I understand it!

That's correct, only found that out today when my Villa ticket was sold.....

Email after selling my City Ticket:

£42.00 will be credited either to your card or to next season's season ticket on receipt of the relevant match voucher. Details of the match voucher will be announced on the 'Ticket Office Today' section of the club website after the match. Please see the FAQs section for full details of how to receive your rebate.

Email after selling Villa ticket:

£31.50 will be credited towards next season's season ticket. Please see the FAQs section for full details.

Looks like they want to keep hold of our money for us.....

On the positive, my Season Ticket will seem a bit cheaper next year.

It's not, I'm pretty sure of that. The club would say if it was, if only to encourage people to go to unpopular matches.

You may have been a member for 5 years but it doesn't count for anything. How long have you been on the list. You must have joined after Winchy and I. When they first came out with the Bronze membership I decided to join up

I got in there when they started this waiting list thing and i'm in position 199 on the list. In fact, they offered me a season ticket last year, but I couldn't afford to take them up on it :(

Well I am significantly lower than 8k and I have been on the list for less than 5 years. The only reason I can think of is the fact that I've accumulated 300-odd LPs in a short-space of time!

Very interesting thread. I've never had a memdership or been on any waiting list. I rang up the ticket office in June 2006. They rang back the same week offering me a season ticket and have just starter my 5th year as a season ticket holder. Seems to me that the list is very subjective and probably a money making scam as well.

season ticket waiting list started in 2006/7 so those saying 5 years plus are exaggerating. in 2006 my mate went to the ticket office and bought one. prior to this you may have been a member but there was no season ticket waiting list. i'm 2000 on the list and i hardly get points because alot of my friends are season ticket holders and so there is always a ticket going. when we go to away games i also apply on one of their names as i am not going to get a ticket. i have slowly moved up the list but it cannot be based on points and is simply just done on when you joined the list

Ah ok that's not too bad I suppose. Being based in Ireland if I got a ticket I might only make it to 10 games a year so wouldnt be a bad option

I think it has to be some combination of time and points... I can think of no other reason for the giant jumps made by me and my brother (who joined and has gone up the list at the same rate as me.)

We've done two full seasons as Bronze members - 2008/09 2009/10 - and picked up around 300LPs each and are both below the 8,000th person mentioned earlier, having started in the 20s.

In honesty i was kinda hoping I might have an outside chance of being offered a ST this season after doing 75-odd games over the past two seasons, not saying I deserve one, just that I thought it might happen - we went up 12,000-odd places last season alone.

Well i have been on the season ticket waiting list longer than my mate, yet hes ahead of me.

Its not rocket science, its clearly not based solely on the length of time you have been on there.

I've been on the Waiting List for three years now, currently 13,000 something on the list.

I still believe when the new Stadium is built that 15,000 or so season tickets will get issued out. Also some currrent ST holders might not carry on with there season tickets so that means more would be released.

I think if your 15,000 and lower you stand a good chance of getting a ST when the new stadium is built.

It seems as if half-season tickets were easy to get a few years ago, wish i was older then as i would have got one.

There seems to be a whole lot of discrepancies regarding the waiting list. People who are much higher despite being on it for 2 years more than the next man, people getting offered half season tickets and effectively 'jumping the queue', despite not even being on the waiting list.

I'm sure the waiting list is just a fabrication and there's a few thousand simply in a 'pool' and you're picked at random.
