If we really wanted him then we'd have been in for him. I think it's that simple. He's been openly available at a purportedly reasonable price for the whole window so the fact that we've gone after Vlad and not him when we publicly said that we need to strengthen our defence means that Franco and AVB don't really rate him that highly, or just not as a priority signing. Therefore I'm not losing any sleep about Arsenal going for him.

Is he really not that good? I've seen people rave about him on here before and say that him and Vertonghen would be great as they'd make an excellent combination. I've not watched much of Ajax in the last few years, hence not knowing how good Verts was or how good Eriksen is either.

Although I've seen the Dutch U21s and Blind looks pretty good.

He has a similar style to Verts, but is no where near his level when he came over to us. He is still a ways off from him, and possibly won't ever be as good.

He's going to take time to adjust to a league like the EPL for sure. And, with their lack of quality depth right now, should Koscielny/Mertesacker get hurt he'd be thrown to the wolves.

That's a good move for him. Atletico is a good side and I think his strengths suit La Liga.

I honestly think Liverpool might overtake Arsenal. Liverpool just added Sakho and Ilori to their CB group which I considered their biggest question mark in terms of their squad. Arsenal will be so screwed if any of their attacking 4 go down with injury at this point.
