Also Zenit St. Petersburg is considering an offer for Toby #Alderweireld. #EFC #ThFc #NCFC #Ajax

He's already said he doesn't want to go to russia, but I gtuess its possible if no one else comes in for him.

I can't see a deal happening here. I think we will go with Dawson, Kaboul and Vertonghen, with Capoue and Fryers covering until January.

I think you may well be right, I think the problem is do we need a fourth choice CB as occasional cover-in which case I guess Alderweireld would be OK as he's simply that OK as an occasional cover at CB and OK as the occasional cover at RB and comparatively cheap or do we need a much better CB to possibly play a regular role if Eunice struggles to get over his injury and really find his form again and one of Verts or Daws picks up an injury that keeps them out a while. I don't think Alderweield is the level you would want for any extended run in the first team so waiting till Jan to see how Eunice stands up could be a sensible idea. As you say we do have Capoue and Fryers as possible options, even Sandro.
With all the spending we have been doing then I can see the attraction of getting a player who can cover CB and RB cheap, but if we have injuries that mean we have to play a weak fourth choice too frequently then there may be a false economy and we would be better served focussing on a stronger CB option

This is just my opinion but I think we are trying for both Lamela and Willian, and as a result are willing to overlook certain squad frailties that we can cover with existing players to free up as much cash as possible. We may revisit if/when Bale goes, but I think we are aiming to make some big coups in the attacking department.

We are focused on other things and back up CD will have to wait until we have time perhaps even 2/9/13 ?

I think that we won't look at the CB situation till at least January, but more likely next summer as Dawson, Kaboul and Vertonghen with Capoue, Fryers, Walker and Sandro all being able to play there just doesn't make it a priority

I really think that judging by General Franco's good work this summer, if this lad was the answer he'd be ours by now especially considering our need to add depth at the back
I just think he clearly isn't first choice. As we've been reported to be looking at more youngsters which makes sense given our situation.

I think once deadline day roles around and if Toby still hasn't moved yet then I could see us getting him.

I think he wants to come to the lane and would be prepared to wait until either jan or next year when he would be free. I would not be surprised if he and Erickson came in on deadline day if we sell bale. ajax wont want to lose a player for nowt and a jan move for 5 million could be on the cards. personally I think he may come in on deadline day with erickson if we sell bale

Relying on Kaboul is a big risk after a season on the sidelines. We need one more decent CB, especially as Daws has had problems.

Really want him, but AVB prefer Chiriches. We need 5 CB, especially Kaboul is after injury and we playing in EL.

5 is simply too many. You want 4 and then a utility player who may be playing in another position, but could do a job at CB

Chiriches brings a good blend to the CB corps in my opinion. Two CBs that can join the attack (Verts/Chiriches) and two CBs that you could consider more "stalwart" types. I may be underselling Kaboul there, as we all know he can get forward and chip in to the attack.
