You're right that other teams also benefit from TV money. However our revenue this season has sky rocketed. Increased gate receipts, new sponsorships, CL money etc. New stadium next season with lucrative corporate packages. I wouldn't be surprised if we catch up or even overtake Liverpool in terms of revenue over the next 2 years.

Secondly the stadium is being paid for by long term loans. The transfer budget is quite separate. Admittedly the club needs to be more circumspect with its outgoings in order to pay off the long term loans but we're not skint. There is room for manoeuvre with regards to player purchases and salaries, particularly with the massive increase in revenue this season and next.

We will be increasing our wage budget I'm sure but it will be a long time before we're offering anywhere near what the bigger teams can offer, Coutinho is on £200k a week.

Ticket prices in our new stadium are likely to be more expensive than Liverpool's and more importantly, Liverpool will not be able to compete with us in terms of corporate/premium seats. Arsenal's revenue increased significantly after they moved to the Emirates and one of the drivers was the premium/corporate match day revenue. This in turn led to more commercial opportunities, increasing revenue further. Even if they increase their capacity, Liverpool will not be able to attract the same type of affluent fan. London innit.

I think your playing down how big a club and support Liverpool have globally.

I think we can afford £200k per year, it’s when it becomes weekly we have the problem

The two biggest sources of income for any PL club are match receipts and TV money.

Sure their global fanbase is larger than ours currently, and it is important. But not all of those fans actually spend any significant money on their team. The two biggest sources of income for any PL club are match receipts and TV money. Commercial revenue comes in 3rd. So if we can take in more on match days, which we will, we can start to catch up on the likes of Liverpool.

It's commercial now where we really lag behind the top club as @tiger666 has pointed out, just look at the exposure they have on social media that's the kindness of exposure companies spend big on. We will only start catch up when we start winning things and establishing ourselves as a winning team, the new stadium is a good start.

What else is included in the commercial %? I've never really understood how Liverpool earn £60/70m more a year than us. If it's fanbase related they sell roughly 500k a year more shirts which would equate about £25m. The NFL money and stadium sponsorship would cancel that out but we'd still be £35m short of their total, what is bringing this money in? Is it global partners or something

People need to stop thinking about that as "extra" money - all of that goes directly to paying down the stadium debt, not into funding Spurs operations.

Spurs need to grow match-day revenue, and overseas commercial revenue in the US and Aisa to see any real uptick in operating revenue. That, and continued play in Champions League...

No idea but they're one of the biggest supported clubs in the world. Far more than us.

What's a 'long term loan' how are we servicing the debt and how it that loan being paid?

Been wanting to find a breakdown of what actually is included in that commercial figure for ages because even if we had same amount of fans globally we'd be earning tens of millions less a year overall commercially.

Those accounts are two years out of date - they are stat accounts which are historic statements for tax and regulatory purposes.

Since then we have Nike and renegotiated AIA which are equal to Pool and Arse minimum, CL revenues and ticket sales plus an average attendance at circa 70k paying London prices.

Our revenues will be comparable to Pool and Arse this year.

Pulling up historical accounts is pointless.

FWIW, our accounts to June 17 will also be out of date.

My qualifications ? Accounts and Finance degree and Chartered Accountant.

The tiger is a no nothing bore repeating the same rubbish post after post like some oracle. Knows sweet FA on this subject . Don’t bother @ me mate either

They whore themselves out to Nivea and Betting companies etc.
Their shirt sponsorship and kit deals will be worth quite a bit more than ours, because of the size of their fan base and the resulting exposure that fanbase gives the companies that sponsor them.
There'll be loads of other things as well that all add up.
