2 SA footballers tested positive today, and a rugby coach having already tested positive.

GB have 8 self isolating

I would think they could delay it a year again. Or push back the games until 2024 and push everyone back a cycle as well. Not ideal, but much safer. There aren't any fans allowed in, vaccination rates in Japan at 20% of the population, new positive tests every day. Seems primed to implode. I suppose time will tell.

As far as positive tests, two south african footballers tested positive at the olympic village. coco gauff just confirmed she tested positive as well and won't be competing. Six players on the GB women's team have to self-isolate after somone on their flight tested positive. I'm sure there'll be a lot more in the coming days.

Oh ok - I suspect there willl be plenty more... so many people will no doubt increase the chances

I dont think they can change the cycle - youd get France no doubt suing or something like that and there would be a contractual obligation of some sort. Also for some athletes this could be their last - its so unfortunate all this.

On a lighter note, these are the 'anti-sex' beds the athletes will be sleeping on.

Oh, and coincidentally, the company that supplied them is former PM Shinzo Abe's brother. Funny that.

Yeah, you're right. just came across this: one year delay has cost $2.8 billion ?

What's the point of even competing in the Olympics if you can't have the post-Olympics orgy?
