I personally think Dembele getting pressed out of it happened very rarely. Probably the best at keeping and manipulating the ball when under pressure in our whole squad and probably the one that can releive pressure the most from the back four by taking it and being comfortable with people right up your arse. If you're under pressure and I was a ch or fb would feel more comfortable knocking it into Dembele and not getting a hospital ball back than i would be with Carroll and actually pretty much anyone else in our squad.

I think people just seem to remember the Newcastle game when he lost the ball like that and in the next phase we conceded. He does play at his own pace but that's not always a bad thing in that area of the pitch I have a real issue with people thinking releasing the ball first time is always the right ball.

I obviously hope you're right that Carroll's a real talent and it'll be great if the kid makes it here. Personally I'm dubious and it will be interesting to see what the new manager makes of him. I dont think its fair to keep on blaming managers, the players got to take responsibily too. it'll also be interesting in regards to Dembele and the new manager.

I'm not convinced Carroll has what it takes to make it at our level. But I think the abilities he does have could easily make him as useful to our squad as some of the other flawed players we have and I think it's got to the stage where we needed to test him properly at our level.

Could do with a Premier League loan and Sherwood is a big fan. Might be a good move for both parties?

Maybe. But if he was that big a fan, I think he would have recalled him from QPR. Especially because it was already turning into a failed loan.

Hopefully Sherwood wants others of our dead wood. Like Lennon, Dawson and Benny. Maybe Naughton in January too.

He tried to recall him from QPR, but for some reason couldn't.

"But we miss someone who moves that ball and passes it between the lines very quickly, and he assists the assister. I think Tom Carroll was that player - he can do that, absolutely. I tried to bring Tom back from QPR, it just wasn't possible."

As well as: "Tom Carroll is certainly one who will come back into the squad next season because he's good enough for Tottenham." Should be more than good enough for Palace then.

Does anyone think Carroll will fetch us 4 million pounds?
Yes at least that. No absolutely no value in selling now, look at the Livermore situation, a good prem loan will double that value. Even if he'll never be good enough for us no point in selling now!

If timbo takes over and is interested sell him with a buy back clause, palace clearly don't want to spend much so it could be a good deal for all parties involved

I think Tommy is a cracking little player and would love to see him last it out with us. Think he just needs to put a bit of muscle on them bones.

Perfect club for him to go to. Cannot think of a better one in this league.

Yeah really good news for him, just hope he is a first team regular there.

If he does start the majority of games I can see it really helping his progression.

Kind of wonder what Swansea fans think about this.

Perfect club for him. Also it looks like we have solid relationship with Swansea.

If he has to go on loan, I guess Swansea is a pretty good match if they continue to play the way they have been.

Brilliant loan IF he plays.

It's unlikely but I hope they don't have an option to buy either.

Good move for all.

One could argue this is linked to the Vorm deal and the 30% sell on clause Swansea were looking to avoid. I suspect we got Vorm for less than the £3m touted, in exchange for us sending Carroll on loan to then; in turn saving Swansea any leakage to Utrecht.

This loan really could make him as a player, the kind of game Swansea play should be well suited to his abilities and it'll get him PL time.
