All things considered, I think we've come out stronger this transfer window than prior.

But do you still reckon that we are still the main contenders to break into the infamous top 4 (in the long run - from next season -)...

Man City and Portsmouth anyone??

Everton will "break into the top 4" this year I think, but not so much "break into" as be given a place there what with Liverpool imploding and all.

We'll be back up there next year I'm sure, but for now my guess for this season is 7th or 8th.

EDIT: Official site says that Gilberto has been given number 18.

we are 8 points behind west ham already (next team above us) that could easily be stretched this weekend looking at our respective fixtures, as such we have a lot of ground to make up just to see ourselves in the top half of the table this year. top 7 or 8 would be a good achievement

In the long run Everton will be our main contender for a much-coveted CL-spot.

Man City will implode the minute the corrupt That either is sent to prison or wants a return for the money he has invested.

If your talking about next seasons battle for spot 4....

Man City - No chance. There still a mid-table team in my honest opinion despite there amazing start to this seaosn
Pompey - Nah. Harry will try to push through but top 6 at best
Everton - Yes. David Moyes is developing a great squad and they look pretty good. They may even nudge it this season.
Spurs - It's looking promising and although realistically it's gonna be a mid table finish for us this season our squad looks stronger. We need a World Class Midfielder and Keeper in the summer and we need to keep Berba if possible. Then we're in business for top 4.
Aston Villa - M.O'Neill has done a great job there with good crop of young players. Definite contenders
Wet Spam - Well...Having a good run at the moment but I can't see it
Blackburn - top 8 team and too inconsistent
Newcastle -

Agreed. Next season I can only realistically see us or Everton breaking the top 4. Man City will spend money though, so they stand a chance too.

This season - Everton could, the rest I think will drop back.

Man City have been really poor recently. No chance of them breaking into the top 4 anytime soon. Everton look good though and Villa are getting better.

Hey Mikey, not saying that Sven is crap, on the contrary. But the money behind the club is bent as a three bob note. If the club go into financial hardship becuas eof that, they're up the s*@t creek with no paddle.

Or narrowed! Also, you can't look at just west ham, everyone is so close that even if WH pick up points someone else could drop them. We need to keep up the pressure and hope teams start slipping.

A win against Man U would be fantastic, both for morale and in terms of points however even a point would be useful. We've got a great run in which we should be getting 3 points against every team. Chelsea and Liverpool are the only remaining games that we can't say we deserve to win but I think we can get a draw at home against those two and possibly beat Liverpool.

ManC, Villa and Pompey all had good starts to the season but were mainly honeymoon periods. Once they lose faith in Erikson and start to lose Man City will be back to mid-table. Villa have sold one of their best players in Melborg (sp?) although they weren't a one man team by any stretch.

The start to next season will be key. The last two years we've had very tough fixtures to the start of the season and the team haven't had a chance to ease themselves into the season. I can't believe we'd have such bad luck next time and I believe we'd be more resilient anyway.

If we can start seasons the way we finish them we'd be top4 easily and frankly, there's no reason why we can't

Beware of people like them. Football betting is big in Asia, Particularly so in China and Malaysia. The guy who failed to take over Birmingham, I suspect has underground connections in Hong Kong; and if so, certainly has links to illegal gambling in many parts of Asia.

Big wigs in Hong Kong are very sane people. They won't spend tens of millions on shit teams like Birmingham for fun. They have to have some sinister motives to do so.

Man City had a good start to the season, and in fairness had a relatively easy fixture list to get them up to speed too, but their performances since we beat them in the Carling Cup haven't been good. They have certainly tailed off and are struggling for goals when at the beginning of the season the goals were coming from all directions.

He just wanted to rename them Yeung Boys Birmingham.

Sorry, couldn't resist that.

I have no hard evidence, but I suspect that the guy is a relative of another Yeung in Hong Kong who owns a chain of watch and jewellery shops, and who used to arrange for his own shops to be robbed by hired criminals from China; who was involved with syndicated horse racing fixing; and who was involved with money laundering (forgotten whether he was jailed for that). And about 3 or 4 years ago, had a TV comedian brutally beaten up by hired hands for a joke about his celebrity songstress mistress in a stand-up comedy.

Perhaps I should also explain my suspicion. Both men have their family name " Yeung ".

Chinese names are normally formed by 2 or 3 characters; the first of which is the family name.

Those with 3 characters to their names, normally have a common 2nd or 3rd character within the same family, or among first cousins.

The crook I was telling about is called Yeung Shau Sing, and the guy who was after Birmingham was Yeung xxx Sing; which leads me to think that he is actually a full brother of the crook or a first cousin from his father's side. Criminal activities in the Far East tend to run in blood families, very much like that of the Mafia.

We probably have to settle for a mid table position this season, but hopefully we will manage to win the League Cup, and also come far in the Uefa cup - Hopefully win that one aswell.....

We have a strong squad, but we still need to add a couple of players. I am sure we will have a few deals during the summer transfer window.

I have to admit that I admire Harry Redknapp's dealings in the transfer market, and I think he is a clever manager. He has built Portsmouth from Scratch, and what a great job he has done!

This is a really hard team to beat, and they have some really good players in their squad.
