Top 4 or FA cup

As the title suggests! What would you prefer? Myself I would go with the top 4 finish more money for the club playing bigger teams in the Champions league. Just imagine what Harry could do with the champions league money? He could find a few decent players improve our squad and we could be challenging for the league in a couple of years. So I would rest players in the FA cup and even sacrifice it for a top 4 finish especially as I have a wager that we'll make top 4 this year

Top 4 easily. It'd have more of a lasting impact on the club in the ways you say, and also in terms of self-belief. It'd also stick in the craw of the likes of Wet Spam far more.

i would take FA cup provided we still had an alright premiership season (finishing 5th-7th). i still value the glory of a wembley final win and a trophy in the cabinet. i wouldn't want FA cup and coming like 12th because that would mean a lot of disappointing results throughout the year

admittedly it has less impact on buying power, than a CL place. but FA cup puts you in europa at least. and TBH if we finished top 4 we'd prob get knocked down to the europa soon anyway.

4th

Richard Keyes asked Dion Dublin and Jamie Redknapp this after the Villa/Liverpool game the other day and Dublin was saying as a player, there's nothing better than silverware and he would pick the cup.

I personally share Redknapp's view that getting 4th can totally transform a club. We're profitable and well run anyway, if we got into the CL we could attract some of the world's top players and with that comes a stronger squad to compete for domestic honours.

CL qualification could put THFC into the world elite, the odd dometic cup is small time.

Come on guys...even though a Cup win is great it does not take the club forward. It will only be a couple of good days out. We have to look at the long term and even if the FA Cup was once great, it is now all about money and Champions League.
Top-4 will be of more value than you believe...

My heart says FA Cup, my head says top 4.

Top 4 = Champions League = world class talent coming to play for us = get to see even better football, and ultimately the reason I watch football is to be entertained so the better the players, the happier I am.

However, FA cup = that special, memorable moment that will sit in my heart till the day I die and beyond. Problem is, if it is at the expense of top 4 (though I'm not saying it necessarily is), and we don't have Champions League football, the superb players already at the club suddenly become vulnerable to being taken away from us by red nosed tyrants, and I'm not talking Rudolph.

Screw it.. BOTH!

You weren't to know this OssiesKnees but we had this debate a week or two ago and it got quite heated indeed. The general concensus (about 70% I think) was 4th

A cup is a cup and something we can add to our achievements. Its always nice to win silverware.

But i do want to see us playing Champions league football.

So i dont care what one, as long as one of them happen i would be ecstatic

The thing with finishing third or fourth is that we'd still have to qualify for the champions league proper, so in terms of how the question is currently phrased I would take the FA Cup.

If it is a choice between finishing top four and qualifying for the champions league proper, or the FA Cup, I would sacrifice the FA Cup.

4th. In the long run it will be more beneficial financially than a one off cup win, champions league football brings in the revenue, better players will be interested and with the new stadium build things would setup rather nicely for the future, would also make potential take overs more likely as the club will be more in the spotlight, should Levy decide to sell that is.

I don't have the word 'or' in my vocabulary. I read 'or' and say 'and'. Top four and FA Cup.

FFS! When did football lose it's soul?:evil:
FA Cup no arguements. I find it really sad that people would rather come fourth than win the FA Cup.
What should happen is that the Cup should take a CL place but I doubt the Pillocks in charge will ever allow that.

I think you're misunderstanding the thinking - mine at least. Of course I want silverware, but I'm just looking more long-term. IMO a top 4 finish would do more for our chances of winning silverware on a consistent basis than a one-off cup win would on its own.

FA Cup this season, 1st next, the league is wide open so a cup win would keep the players sweet in staying in the eventuality of not making it to Champions League, i.e 4th.
The good feeling vibe can rub onto next season where we can mount a series title challenge to come 1st!
