Not worried about top four at all, people are just reacting to this weekends results which will always look worse than it is.

Football isn't played in the past so looking back to last season is largely irrelevant. The only reality is what is happening in the present. Assuming this or that is generally when things go pear-shaped.

Wait....what? Surely your comment 'that's what clubs like Man Utd do' is exactly based on a perception about their past when they were winning titles...?

Been in panic attack mode about top 4 but just looked at fixtures and actually feel better. I've got it.

Leicester 78
Spurs 75
Goons 74
Man city 71
United 70

It's very likely one of city or united will be on 70ish so I have it as 9 points needed from our last 18 for top 4. It will be a lot easier if we avoid defeat next week though.

providing we avoid defeat next Sunday top four should be as good as done, but lose and it cud get very panicky. I think we'll beat them though.

That's quite a 180 you just did on your own opinion.

Not really. The 'present' is that Utd are a massive club who have invested heavily in the type of footballing talent that is able to go on runs at the business end of the season. Nobody was expecting them to go to City and win. That result was a game changer in terms of the fight for Top 4.

Actually, given that City had no Kompany and have an awful record against the top teams, combined with the fact that they haven't been overwhelmingly dominant at the Etihad, it wasn't that surprising at all.

Not at all. What were City doing 10 yrs ago? Did that have any bearing on the perception that they were going to be a dominant force in English football as soon as they got the oil money?

The top 4 is most guaranteed for us and bar a monster collapse so not really concerned about that. I'm a little concerned that Arsenal are gunning for our 2nd place but at the same time they have westham away next so that's a good thing. Beat United and top 4 is pretty much guaranteed.

Arsenal, ManCity, ManU and Wham all have a game in hand on us, and in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.

So our lead of 4 pts, 8 pts and 9 pts over them respectively could become 1 pt, 5 pts and 6pts respectively if they win their games in hand, which is closer than it has been recently, but with only 6 games for us.

No point in speculating which games we or they might win or lose, but what's obvious is than beating ManU next week would be a very big start, but even then we need to win another couple and keep getting points.

We just need to concentrate on it one game at a time - keep winning and we're fine.

If we beat UTD, it will be a big big win. Hopefully West Ham can do us a favour but United will be giving us one hell of a game.

No as already illustrated the present is that spending money doesn't guarantee business end success.

I'm very confident we'll beat United. I don't think they'll be able to live with our intensity, and as a result we'll get chances.

I thought we were very good for large periods against Liverpool and although we didn't defend as well as normal, we generally looked the better team. If we bring that level of performance and with a full week of rest (for once) then I think we'll win.
