No it hasn't which is entirely my point that there is still a lot of work to be done to ensure Top 4.

Agree we aren't nailed on for top 4 yet. I will be so gutted if we don't make it this year after everything. Lads just need to keep pushing.

Football isn't played in the past so looking back to last season is largely irrelevant. The only reality is what is happening in the present. Assuming this or that is generally when things go pear-shaped.

but we ain't on a bad run or are we

Good thing is we're still playing really well. Its not like we're wobbling and playing under pressure. If anything we look better now than we have all season.

The overreaction to a 1-1 draw at Anfield is really quite embarrassing.

Two days ago we were dreaming of the title, now we're nose diving in to the Europa with a spectacular collapse in form...... pull yourself together!
We're 2nd in the league. Best attack, best defence, best striker, best goalie, best CDM, best CB....have I missed anything?
This is our best season in years and the main reason for that is Poch has instilled a completely different attitude in our players, I wonder how long it'll take for all of our fans to catch up?

Very good point!
I'm still nervous we're losing to Villa away, and getting thumped 5-1 away to Liverpool. But this team keeps on performing!
Think we'll finish 2-3rd.

Beat United and surely it has to be tied up...

We would be 12 points clear of them with them having 6 games remaining.

However, lose and it could get nervy.

It's a strange one really.

Win or draw and I'd say we've secured top 4, considering the games we have left.

Lose and I'd still make us favourites for a top 4 finish, but our position becomes a bit more precarious.

It's not really a must win game for United (even if it's still huge for them) as they're chasing Oil Money and Arsenal ahead of us.

For us it's a must win in terms of the title, but also a 'must not lose' game in terms of CL qualification.

It's going to be interesting to see how both teams approach it.

We've got to come above Arsenal. We have to. Surely we're gonna come above Arsenal after the season we've had... Surely...

please.

As I seem to have to point out every time, it's not really the same people. Those going on about us winning the title two days ago aren't largely those saying it's now Europa all the way. Most people sit in the middle, crossing their fingers, but the loudest, most extreme examples of the polar opposites are the ones the media and seemingly people on message boards take note of

People are people. Both outcomes could still happen, no one's wrong

I think there's some middle ground to be had though, it's not just as black and white as win the title or finish out of top four. It seems like those over-reacting now think that we can't even finish in the top four which is a bit ridiculous really. The over-reaction comes purely from the results this weekend and nothing else as we were the only team up there not to pick up 3 points, we had a tough game so that's understandable but people seem to be overlooking this.

I know we're still very much in the title race, but first things first - finishing in the top four.

Tomorrow could pretty much settle this. West Ham dropping points today means they are now 10 points behind us (11 with our goal difference) with 6 to go. 7 more points and they can't finish above us (not that anyone expects them to).

United are the only realistic threat to us finishing in the top 4, and tomorrow is a must win for them. Assuming they actually win their game in hand, a draw tomorrow would leave them 6 points behind us (7 with our goal difference, which is better than theirs by 20) with only 5 games to go.

Again, assuming United win their game in hand, a victory for us would leave us 9 points ahead of them (10 with our goal difference), meaning we'd need just 5 points from our last 5 games to make it impossible for them to finish above us (unless they can win all of their remaining games by 7 or 8 goals).

Obviously we need the win to maintain a title challenge, but anything other than a defeat will see us with one foot in a top 4 finish.

Neck on the line a bit but win today close thread
There is no way utd make up 13 points with what's left to play
We just aren't that spurs any more

On a plus side Sunderland must look at the table this morning and feel if they do not get anything today they are toast ,so fingers crossed they will play like possessed demons.

Forget top 4. The priorities are the title and then top 3 (which includes obviously finishing above the scum)
