I can understand that from the point of view of the atmosphere, but surely they'll recognise this as a big opportunity to make a lot of money?
the problem is that they would have to use the Aviva for all home games, I don't think they can have just the spurs game there. It would cost them something like €60,000 to rent the Aviva for all three home games - from what I've read.
Now, theoretically they could fill the stadium with the visit of spurs, but the place would be pretty empty for the other two games, which would be a risk financially. That together with the fact that spurs should have qualified by the time they come to Dublin means that they could potentially, and in all likelihood will, field a weakened team. If that's the case then not as many people will go to the home game, which represents a further risk.
They would probably fill the tallaght stadium for all three games, without the risk of having to lay out €60k.
The RDS might be a more viable alternative, unless the FAI cut them a deal, but I'm not sure what the RDS would cost them.
