Looks like Townsend has been playing left-back in the two games in which he's appeared.

Good Taraabt being involved in most of the goals. Hopefully he is maturing as a footballer who we know always had potential.

Just a point, has King been involved in any of these friendlies? I don't recall seeing his name being mentioned in either match. There is a pictue of both him and Moldric sitting on the by line o the official site.

And another point, who is this Townsend? Is he one of our academy players coming through the ranks a la Ohara?

HI BS- AFAIK neither Bale or King have played in either match - I'm trying not to start 'officially worrying ' but it's creeping up on me ..

Townsend is one of our young 'uns don't know if he's Academy or reserves- ineresting if he's been playing LB tho

we now have BAE and Gilberto for next match

We'll know so much more by the Norwich game

can't wait to see that one :) still can't believe it's on TV - it's a real bonus this technology lark at times :)

The cap fits so I will respond. I said "I hope he was maturing........". Didnt for once say that he is suddenly the bees knees or the fnished article, but it is good once in a awhile to acknowledge effort or improvement, instead of always putting our players down. If he had played the same way ie headless chicken, I could understand but he obviously is working on his game and yet supporters like you still cant be satisfied. He is damn if he does and damn if he does not.

it was just a general statement. No point getting all excited. these teams could make anyone look good.

That's a bit strange IMO, 'cause our chairman clearly gave the impression that Keane wants to and will go to Pool. If so, why is he still there and why did he still play?

Because Pool haven't bid and he will be a Spurs player unless we get an acceptable bid for him.

Berbs definitely leaving, however didn't expect Keano to do the same. Levy comments on both this player that they want to leave is heartbreaking. Hoping, he will stay on. Troubled with the 2 conceded goal against a 3rd division team.

I think Taarabt will benefit form playing in his proper position as the second striker, rather than out on the left wing.

I think he suffered when he came on because he was picking the ball up too deep. He had too many men to beat and too far to go, whereas if he is in and around the box he only needs to do one trick to open up an opportunity.

The great thing about Ledley King is, he never seems to need games to get back to form. He has a long lay off, comes back, plays a blinder, then rest again. As for Bale, i think he still has his ankle taped and both will be rested for the early pre-season games. I actually think Gilberto is likely to start the season ahead of Bale. He's gotten his fitness back up and looks sharper, wheras Bale will need several games before he returns to 100%. It is interesting to see Ekotto is getting games though.

Interesting to see that Taraabt and Huddlestone have started both games, I know Zokora hasn't been there but still nice to see and hopefully they can make a real impact because they are so "gifted".

I remember Taarabt having a great pre-season last year, too. He has an array of tricks which can rip third-rate defences apart. Doesn't work so well against PL defenders, though.

Still, hope he is learning when to leave the tricks aside. He certainly has the potential to be good enough...
