I know that transfer windows are impossible to navigate because you may reject a second choice option early on only to lose out on your prefered player later, but I wonder if there are any regrets now about Eriksen - if it is true that he was open to come back but that we decided against it in the end. He ran the game for United against Arsenal and would have provided great cover in a number of positions along with that creativity we are lacking.

Maybe I'm just biased because I love the player, but I can't help feel that was an opportunity missed. I get that Conte may have said I prefer Zaniolo or whomever, but when we then ended up failing to bring in that AMF I wonder if we would take Eriksen now if we could

Apparently the full package United are paying is over 40 million. We were never going to go that big for a 30 year old that was never seen as a key piece of the puzzle. ITK said that Conte never saw him as a priority signing, rather an opportunistic one, and as soon as we realised how much United were offering him it wasn't even a consideration.

I don't think he has a natural spot in our current system anyway given Conte seems very reluctant to shift away from the 3-4-3.
