For me it’s very simple. Barring my family and my work this football club is up there as one of the most important things in my life. The club is my passion and has been since I was a kid in the late 80’s early 90’s. My mood is often driven by the Spurs result at the weekend and there’s no feeling like that of winning a huge match (be it a big derby, a CL KO match, or the holy grail - a trophy). I can’t switch off my feelings for this football club - it’s a huge part of my life and it’s in my DNA.

If investment means we strengthen the playing squad, enabling us to close the gap or compete with the elite and win trophies again then I’m all for it.

Just seeing the newcaslte celebrations just to get into the semi. The fans and players are loving it. All of this probably wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the Saudi money

If we get similar investment how many won't celebrate a cup final?

Every person who has voted yes.. I get it. Years of under achievement and concern that we will be left even further behind if and when QSI and similar invest elsewhere.

I desperately want Levy and ENIC gone. Have done for years as they’ve taken the soul of our club away.

But I’d just walk away from the game altogether if these people infiltrate our club.

It’s getting to the point where you can’t have your cake and eat it too

I’ve been going with my old man, probably 600 or so games since early 90s. Been up and down the country and all over Europe, it’s cost us thousands and huge amounts of time away from our families. All I have to show for it is 2 league cups. He’s not getting any younger, we’ve been so close a couple of times. I want to see some real success with him whilst we are both still able to go together
Same here. My dad is 72. It would be great for us to go to a cup final and win.

That's probably good for you but I'd imagine there are a lot of fans, myself included, who can't just walk away from our club.
It may be seen as misplaced by some but I feel a sense of loyalty to Spurs that I wouldn't feel anywhere else (another team) and football brings me a lot of joy...as well as a lot of grief!
Loyalty towards the club and the history, that goes far beyond whoever owns us.

I've said before, as much as I don't like getting into bed with shady money, this is my club and I'll be fucked if I'm gonna leave them for a bunch of billionaire suits.

Nah, they can fuck off. Funny how many people's morals go right out of the window when it's us eh..
It's not peoples morals that are going out of the window FFS.
This is the sort of post that's ruining this thread.

Just because someone can't walk away from the club they always loved, doesn't mean that their everyday morals have changed in any way.

To be honest, if this does go through, I look forward to many of you lot not being in here anymore, spouting shite like this.

This is a far more complex and emotionally involved debate than such simple posts as this can grasp.

I honestly think we've got some supporters who would lob a homosexual off a building themselves if they thought we'd get league cup out of it.
If you just remove building from your paragraph, I think I probably would consider it just for a win on Sunday.

Champions League then.
That's just a distasteful thing to say, let alone about fellow fans on many levels.
Not funny and not clever.

It's comments like that that are swinging me towards the investment, if only to get such ignorant drivel off this site.

Ah fuck you!
That's such a more clever and witty response than I could come up with! ?

What moral fibre.

It's distasteful but I’m clearly saying it to make a point. How much different is turning a blind eye to something because you get something you want as opposed to doing something by your own hand.

I think it’s closer than many want to admit.

That's just it, I haven't made my mind up or voted in the poll yet because I'm honestly torn.
One minute I'm thinking fuck it, let's just do it and the next, I'm thinking that no fucking way do I want it.
So, I come here for views on both sides because without gathering as much information from both sides as I can, I'm gonna be stuck on the fence.

Crass comments like yours don't further the discussion at all, they just get people's backs up and it descends into the same old stuff.

We're never going to all agree on something like this but insulting either side isn't funny or making a statement.

They have spent plenty on the stadium and infrastructure. The main issue is we want them to spend now on football so we can succeed. Trouble is ENIC is more than just about Spurs. I think they suited us at a time where we needed stability and to build the infrastructure. Now our needs are to build on that with on field success. I don't think Lewis has as much interest in that. They're not likely to just bankroll our transfer window and take a hit. They will always invest because its what they do. Now feels like the right time for them to cash in on their investment and for us to move on with new owners who want to win titles. Aside from the Northumberland project and building around the new stadium I'm not sure there's anything left for ENIC at this club.
They, as in ENIC, haven’t actually “spent plenty”, or even any, on the stadium. They used Tottenham’s status, prestige, properties and on field success(little as it was because there was no net spend on transfers) to get low interest loans to finance capital improvements to the stadium and training ground. By doing so they increased the valuation of the club and therefore enhanced their potential profit.
Selling a percentage of the club now strikes me that they want to cash in some of that profit. If they were seeking investment in order to make the football team more successful then it seems to me there were many occasions in the last 20 years where it would have made more sense to do so. Of course that would have meant somebody else also reaping the bounty of the increased valuation of the club once the stadium was built .
The fact that Levy is balking at spending big on transfers now that the stadium is built, and is a veritable cash cow, raises the suspicion that having a successful football team, as opposed to a successful property portfolio, was never the long term aim.

Clubs owned or sponsored by states have been awful for football. Inflating the market and making many European leagues much less competitive.

Football is less interesting than it used to be. I would prefer if this club didn’t contribute to the acceleration of it’s downfall.

I understand that it’s easier for a non-English fan who travels every other season to take a firm stand. I would be giving up habits, not a whole way of life. Even so, I felt sad when the Newcastle take over went through, and even sadder when I read about this proposal.
