I am buzzing about Spurs. Had a drink with my Liverpool supporting mate yesterday and he was giving it to me about last year but his tone changed when I reminded him about their City game. I can't wait for this real test.

lol that's good then i was wondering what he had done and figured it would have been plastered all over here.

Happens from time to time with various players when theyre in a decent shooting position, the crowd will shout shoot, but I agree it can sound like boos sometimes but will it be everyone shouting shoot.

We were saying "shoot". Same as we say "beast" at Sandro... it doesn't come across clear on the telly.

Fair enough last night was little more than a training match, but what stood out to me more than any particular indivudual was how much of a team performance it was. Everyone showing for each other, everyone covering, plenty of good mobility. Thought everyone played exactly as I'd expect them to against the second team of an island with approx 800k population. Especially when it became clear that they were in fact fielding a dwarf... their #20 must have been 4 foot nowt!

Thing that rubbed me up the wrong way, was 10 mins left, and half the ground emptied! I know its a ball ache getting home from the ground, but still! And they were saying there were no tickets left but half my row was empty. Fuck you!

But hang on here, we're talking about a player whose main deficiency is his decision making. He shoots when he should pass and passes when he should take on his man.

Last night's game wasn't a new sudden lack of decision making; it wasn't a surprise Townsend. It was the same old Townsend for me, which is a shame because I thought he made a big impact against West Ham. I'm not against the lad, but there were so many times when he drifted out of position last night. He's not Lamela, he's not Eriksen, he doesn't have that experience and seemingly isn't playing for the team - which is what I always feared he might turn out like. He's a likeable chap, as is his Dad (who is on the Podcast circuit) but that does not mean he gets a starting berth over anyone currently.

The team pressed beautifully last night - I don't care who the opposition were - it was still eleven bodies that we pressed, and it worked for pretty much all three goals.

Harry Kane's goal was very FIFA-esque, nick the ball high up the pitch when no-one's at the back, and slot in a low finesse shot. Ha.

But as for Townsend, I think he is more suited to being an impact player. Bringing on a player with that pace after 70 minutes is a great thing to be able to do.

Do people genuinely think that Townsend makes good decisions?

I'm flabbergasted.

It was nicely relaxed in here overall last night I thought.

When we can banter about Mallards and pandas during the game, it would seem we aren't all as anxious as we have been in the past.

There will always be doomsayers and pessimists looking for something negative and picking flaws in players but they didn't bother me much last night; they were just a gloomy minority. The players they targeted actually had some very fine moments.

I really enjoyed the game and look forward to more good results with our splendid squad.

The thing is this player hasn't been fit since AVB was in charge even then he was one of our best player before he was playing injured for the last two appearances.

Whilst people don't like calling him a youth player, he still is an undeveloped player and has only started less than 50 at the top level.

Its worth judging players when they are fit rather than when they are playing through the pain barrier. Look at Dembele he was our motm according to most yet he was written off despite AVB confirming he was injured for most of the season and the season before. Which correlates with his loss of form as well.

Really and truly, does a player's fitness have anything to do with whether he decides to beat a man or pass the football?

Surely fitness affects the man's ability to be applying himself physically for 90 minutes? Unless I'm missing what you actually mean, I can't see how the level of his physical fitness affects his decision making.

You can defend him, but not with nonsense.

Like you,I have been really disappointed with Andros this season but after his post match interview,I do have some sympathy for the lad.He said himself that he is still a bit away from match fitness and he reckons it will take him another 3 or 4 weeks to get there.

I think fitness does have something to do with decisions. Sure, you can be super fit and make crap decisions. But, if you are struggling for breath or feeling a niggle, it's much easier to make a decision to shift responsibility, pass backwards or not create space to be passed to by somebody else, compared with trying a dribble (particularly of the Andros variety, that are usually about pace not guile) or making a lung bursting run into space. Your fitness affects what you can decide to do.

Just my onions, but I am coming to the conclusion that Andros's problem might not be selfishness, or IQ, or whatever, but actually a Low Boredom Threshold. I could see him as the game petered out yesterday after his pen for 3-0, thinking "this is dull", and that's when he started shooting on sight, ducking down blind alleys, etc. No evidence, as I don't know the lad, but I always want to give a Spurs boy the benefit of the doubt!

Really late to the party but catching up with the game now. Just watched the first half. Loving it. It like a training match - but with an actual purpose. I think our players are making it look like a training match because of their effort rather than just because we know we are better than them. Pauli having a good game, he is looking fit and quicker than i have seen him for a while, and i love the work rate of the team. Poch is getting his message across!

All the players have so far have given thought to the manager. Andros (Sorry it seems he is topic of some discussion) probably the only one , could have passed a couple of balls quicker. But saying that he always seems to get himself invovled in the game.
