I thought that it was a case of having extremely high standards, I thought you'd said something along those lines before. Doesn't matter, I must have been thinking of a different poster.
I don't think I have extremely high standards. I expect a player to put in maximum effort. I don't think a player should be complimented for that.
Obviously "mistakes" are subjective but I do not like a player who makes a lot of them, admittedly "IMO."
Again IMO if a player makes a mistake that leads to a goal then that cancels out any contribution to a goal scored. Mourinho has the same opinion.

Glad of the win, really good first half with the ball.

Far too many stray passes from deep 2nd half - Walker and Bentaleb the biggest culprits.

We need more quality and dare I say it, a bit of experience from the two DMs if we're going to get into Top 4.

I'm not sure we've got a single player that can tackle right now either.. I missed Sandro a bit today.

Well happy with that, that's usually the type of game we fuck up but with united dropping points at their villa banker and one or both of the scum and the dippers to drop points tomorrow it's a weekend to sit back and enjoy. Bring on MOTD :) Coys.

In 43mins Mason had 5 tackles and 2 interceptions more than any other player from either team.

Good win today.
We seem to finally be playing as a team regardless of who is in starting 11 which is good. Faster passing, movement off the ball. They actually look like they've met each other before lol.
Lamella finally played well for 90m in a PL game, great goal and mom.
Seemed to play a bit slower imo, less running round like a headless chicken. Bit more composure. Maybe told to stop trying so hard. Some very skilful intelligent play.
Got to say these 'fk u lamela haters' posts are pathetic.
Do you really believe ANY Spurs fans actually want him to fail?
No one hates him ffs.
He has been very, very poor and we as a team have played better without him. Is that even up for debate?
He looked good today against a poor side but that doesnt detract from how he has been playing.
I reckon he must be showing what we saw today in training because you just wouldn't start him based on what weve been seeing in recent games, the odd flick here and there but generally poor.
I dont think anyone doubts he has the possibility to become a great player but even if he already was the finished article his performances of late would have seen calls for him to be dropped.
You cant keep playing a guy who puts in poor performance after poor performance in the hope that he may one day do something amazing.
If he can keep putting in performances like that and improve then we may have a hell of a player.
Got to have done his confidence the world of good. Well happy for him, looked so f kin pleased lol.
Like Soldado I think he's felt under pressure and hopefully now we'll see more of the same.
Fully expect him to be dropped next game lol.

Could it be the whole thing is coming together at just the right time?
Oops, now I've fked it.

Happy with the performance and obviously the result. If only Lamela plays the way he did consistently, then we will be able to climb up that table and compete for top four.

We had several chances, true. We barbequed every single one of them though through a poor final ball/final touch. And that summed up the half - sloppy, and to me very poor. It didn't matter whether we were attacking or defending, it was below-par.

You said it was atrocious - having some excellent and very fluid build up play, with some lovely touches and slick interactions but followed by poor decision making and a little sloppiness is not the same as being atrocious. That would be a game were there was no build up play at all. We were unbalanced in midfield after Mason went off but the pressing was still good and continued right to the end. Atrocious would have been if there was no pressing at all. Burnley had some good chances, but, at the end of the day, were thwarted primarily by our players, and especially Hugo, doing their jobs, it wasn't like they hit the woodwork several times and had blatant pens turned down - and we had far more chances. Atrocious would have been if they had several chance and we couldn't produce a sample if the thwarting of an Ebola outbreak depended on it.

Given the stage of development we are at, it seems pointless to me to even think about discussing par. What matters to me is sign of improvement - and the fluidity of our attacking play, even if we only scored two goals (and one more than the oppos) certainly looked like signs of improvement to me. As did our pressing and the sense that there was a team out there and not a collection of individuals.

Burnley are, obviously, relegation candidates, but I think they are a bit better than you are allowing. And they fought tooth and nail. TBH, and I don't mean this to be insulting (so apologies in advance if you think it is), I suspect that you have had your view of the game distorted by the tension of no third goal being forthcoming while they pushed us for an equaliser. Maybe you should watch it again, without that worry and just concentrate on things like the fluidity of our attacks and our pressing, even after our midfield became unbalanced. At the end of the day, we won because we scored more than the oppos and deserved to on the balance of chances. It wasn't perfect, but I just don't agree that it was atrocious, nor do I accept that it is fair to heap scorn upon Burnley and their efforts (y)

How was the atmosphere at today's game?
It was shit because we have no fansh and we're a load of wankersh..........

It was decent. The crowd is very nervous and when we start beating teams convincingly, I'm sure our fans will be amazing again.

We lost it when Mason went off
Stambouli in was to much defensive

but we won and christmas can now start :)

When a sub comes on he is always given a list of instructions beforehand. Do you not think he might have been just following those instructions? We were winning..... I give him the benefit of the doubt on this one, besides, if Soldado and Lamella are allowed a year to settle in then he should be allowed some time too.

Good win considering its 3rd game o the week.
Only negative out of the game is Mason's injury. Hope he is ok and is back soon. But am afraid, ankle injuries always take time to heel. I wont be surprised he is out for minimum 3 weeks - meaning he may miss 8 to 10games.

We have started playing well, after Mason, Nabil & Stambouli have been in CM. I am still not convinced o Dembele but we have to depend on him now. I do not want to go back to Capoue or Paulinho - their slow build up will negate any momentum we build.

May be time to give Harry Winks a chance ?

Other option is to play Eriksen in CM with Bentaleb or Stambouli and may be play Soldado or Adebayor with Kane.

Have you ever managed a group of people at work? I have found that the best way to ensure a positive response is to praise when the effort is put in. It costs you nothing and can reap real benefits. Most people find contentment at work when they know their efforts are appreciated, expected or not.

I don't think Maureen shares your limited view either. Yes, he expects 100%, but he praises his players when he gets it. The man is masterful when it comes to players psychology, knowing the right things to say, and do, to motivate each individual, Hazard being a prime example.

It seems that you demand perfection. Nothing wrong with that as it is a goal to strive for. However, this needs to be tempered with the understanding that, apart from the fact that no one ever achieved it, this team of ours is a fledgling one still finding its way.

The impression I am getting is that it is sinking in with the players that ability isn't enough, the hard work is needed to let the ability shine. If we can continue progressing along this path then we will be a force.

Just watched the highlights.

Definitely improvement in team morale.

And love that Lineker has finally agrees with what I said months ago. Kane is the new Shearer.

Really buzzing about our home grown English youngsters. And I count Walker in that too.

Today as in the odd game before we saw something of the twin threat that we can have with both Eriksen and Lamela playing well. Get them both to be able to play together consistently and we will have a great second half of the season. Perhaps they are beginning to sort this out so that they can complement each other. Perhaps as the team selection and shape are settling down players will play less to try and prove themselves and more for the team...that to me is what we are starting to see

Just saw the Lamela goal again on MOTD. Serious flashbacks of Gareth Bale at the Lane.

I thought that, but then saw Stewart bleeding Downing do pretty much the same thing on the same day... so not getting carried away yet. It's his overall play that needs to improve I think.

I love Harry, but he's no Shearer. Shearer was a force of nature until his second cruciate injury.

I am not managing anybody here. I am giving my opinion on a fan site. Of course Maureen praises players-that's his job.
And he has said in the past there is no point showing skill if you make mistakes and give away a goal.
Why are you so worried about what I think anyway? I never have a go at players at WHL but I scream and cuss at them when watching them on the telly BECAUSE THEY CAN'T HEAR ME.

I think it's great that Harry is being spoken of as like Sheringham or Shearer. I think as he develops he will improve and in later years people will be comparing future great players to him.
