That's given me a lot more confidence.

Dembele and Paulinho will dominate Fat Lamps and Mikel.

I'd of preferred to go Verts LB and Chiriches CB; even though he's had one game with us... Naughton scares me so much at LB as he has to keep cutting back onto his right foot.

I think the back four is right in the circumstances and Chiriches might be totally overawed with this so not a great game to give him his home debut.

I just wish Townsend was on the left and Lamela on the right as with Siggy and Naughton there will just be no width in the Chelsea third.

In any case, great news that Mata doesn't start!

To be fair, there is no real alternative as Verts would not be comfortable handling Hazard either. Wish Rose was fit... :-\

Our bench is so strong, its easy to ask why certain players perhaps aren't starting. We trust AVB though, he works day in day out with these boys. In time, Lamela and Holtby will figure in first 11 more than on the bench.

A good thing is that pressure is on Siggy/Dembele to put in massive games every time they start - that can only be a positive and goes for all players. Nowhere to hide anymore. You play poor, you drop out.

I'm quite disappointed with the selection, as we I felt we finally had the chance to play on the field our first XI for the first time this season. I think everyone's seen enough to say that Naughton is not a left back, and Siggy on his side makes for a disjointed attack through there. Rose and Sigurdsson could work well, but with Naughton not being a willing attacker on his side, and Siggy not providing natural width, it's hard to see us getting much down that side. I hope they've worked on that in training.

I guess it's time to trust in AVB. Last-minute 35 yard belter from Naughton to win it?

My main worry is the referee. In the last 5 seasons Mike Dean has reffed Chelsea 21 times with them only losing 2 matches (both against Man City.

Why change a starting XI when we've been winning with clean sheets? Yes, Naughton is the weak link. But, I still think we can win this.

I'm normally not an advocate for playing Verts out of position but I would have done it today. Equally I would have sooner risked a semi-fit Rose who can actually use his left foot than Naughton.

Not sure why people expected a changed squad. AVB likes continuity and it has worked for the other players he has introduced to the team. The players that are playing are earned there place. Those on the bench will have the chance to make an impact if they get on. This is how a big team is managed.

People saying they want to put Chiriches straight in are off their rocker. Remember what happened when Kaboul first came and we played him straight away.

Just relax, our team is good, our bench is great, we are at home, Chelsea will not be looking forward to this and we are in great form. Bring it on.

Ramieres is a handful...... glad mata is not starting
