I'll let Adebayor off this game, his touch was abysmal but I thoughthe looked rusty more than anything else such as being sulky, its going to be that way when he has barely played any footy for the best part of six months.

i actually thought today was siggy's best game. Whipped in some decent balls, and made some good runs. He's a mile off mata's level, but looks to be improving.

Think we just have hold our hands up and say we were beaten by the better side today. Thought Gallas, Walker and Sidurdsson were very poor today. I think unfortunately di matteo is proving a lot of people wrong! But If you had offered me 6 points from Man Utd Villa and Chelsea I would have taken it.

I don't think we should just hold our hands up and take the defeat. We need to learn from it. Friedel is now our number 2, when BAE is fit, Gallas shouldn't start, we should consider resting Walker and we've got to somehow come up with a way of replacing VDV.

can someone explain to me seriously who the fuck coaches spurs and players????? we playing absolute fucking desperate yet after 60 mins somehow manage to get in front and what we do..?

continually allow opposition and players like mata oscar and hazard the freedom of the park to make slide passes thru.... it should have been 8 to chelsea ...

an absolute shambles and all over the shop performance . i cant fucking believe some performances there today.. talk about fooling fans !

i know i will get all the usual shit from same people on here but the bottom line is spus simply have a good first 11 but apart from that the rest are absolute average at best..... found out today big time and it was only matter of time we were found out for what we are....

center midfield is where we need to be really strong against top teams yet time and again today they had absolute freedom of park.. look at all their goals today and where was bodies and marking in middle of field..... scandalous... sandro cant do it on his own.....

all boils down to intelligence and midfielders knowing their job.. we have no one bar sandro when we dont have the ball

gutted but knew we would get walloped today. just bloody knew it.

The positives were we lived with a full strength Chelsea team for pretty much most of the game. Poor defending cost us two goals. I think Walker needs to be dropped now Naughton is back. Walker has been poor this season.

I felt that Gallas was a tad bit unfortunate for the first two goals, as opposed to Walker who was plain stupid. He doesn't defend well at all and is sooo clueless.

Tbh don't get half the people on here...

First people moan about Defoe playing ahead of Ade, Ade did nothing to justify starting ahead of Defoe.

Secondly what could have Lloris done that Friedel didn't do?? I know he a good keeper but he ain't inspector gadget.

We lost cos we lacklustre in the 1st half.

Played excellent for 20min in the 2nd half and had Siggy been more composed he could have had another.

Sloppy defending cost us today, obviously losing to them hurts but all is not as bad as people are making it out to be.

One positive thing for me was Defoe today. He was more involved than usual, created chances and worked hard from start to finish. Ade was poor when he came on, and i cant see him pushing Defoe out of this team anytime soon.

Didn't he get taken off set pieces at one point because his delivery was so bad. He's a mile off VDVs level and about 5 miles off Mata. He does seem to be a similar standard to Dempsey though

Match stats from BBC :

Posession
Spurs 48% - 52% Chelsea

Shots
Spurs 23 - 11 Chelsea

On Target
Spurs 16 - 7 Chelsea

Corners
Spurs 7 - 4 Chelsea

Fouls :
Spurs 7 - 8 Chelsea

Conclusion :
  • We probably should have scored more goals
  • As others have pointed out, our defending was poor notably from Gallas and Walker. That was the major reason for the loss
  • We obviously missed Dembele in the middle, but noit as much as I feared. Huddlestone did ok, still needs more match practice but he is a viable alternative
  • Surprised Adebayor did not come on earlier
  • At 2-1 up we could have gone on to win or at least draw

Some sloppy goals conceded, but all things considered, i thought we put up a good fight second half, considering we didn't have dembele and bale. Can't wait to see them back in the team again and remember how much better we are with them :D

Positives:

Vertonghen - class
Defoe - worked hard
Lennon

Negatives

Gallas - weak header, poor positioning, was he involved in their first three goals?
Walker - I think he took Mata for granted after their earlier tussling and was at fault for the 4th goal
Adebayor - looked unfit and / or uninterested

He was poor in the first half but played alot better in the second half. Still the jury is out on him.

Gallas was pretty poor today, as was Walker and I was disappointed by our inability to get Lennon involved more as he looked dangerous almost every time he had it but I really don't think we would have lost had we had Dembele and Bale playing today.

Chelsea were playing in second gear. Maybe even third. They weren't even trying until we got the lead. Which is what I suspected would happen, but to then lose the lead by conceding stupid, stupid goals is just... well, a few players need to step up their game. Roughly about 8 of them.

Ade is an idiot, sulking and playing like Gary Docherty isnt going to make AVB select him ahead of Defoe who worked his nut off and scored, so fuck him really, we'll shop around in the winter when he is off in africa

2-4 scoreline flatters them badly, as most of their results have this season, draw was the correct result but some awful defending cost us

on the plus, Bale after taking on scotland and croatia by himself has got a nice rest, I think we looked good in some areas today, and we have so many great players to come into the side eventually

well thats my last comment in this thread as i just want to forget about this game, but my gooner girlfriend wont stop laughing at me though!

...if she wasn't so damn fit! right to the moon!!!
