At this point I think I've seen enough to think that we won't really progress significantly with Sherwood in charge. Last season with Lolpool and rodgers you could see they were developing their play and building a playing style even though the results were not going for them. I haven't seen any development in our play since Timbo took over, we look lost and all over the place.
He won't be in charge next season. Just try and enjoy the prem overall for the rest of this one...that's my attitude.

We are the most predictable team in European football. Seriously, it is clear as can be that playing 1 striker up top with Lennon on the right is not going to produce anything against a quality outfit like Everton.

You CANNOT have wingers who do not score or create goals playing alongside a single striker up front. Contrary to popular opinion, Adebayor is in need of high quality service to score goals. He doesn't have the consistent ability to shoot from distance and score, so he needs perfectly weighted balls in the box. The only player capable of doing this for him on the pitch is Eriksen. Martinez has shut Eriksen down, and stymied our attack in the process.

When you are this turgid in attack, you cannot afford to carry a player like Bentaleb in the midfield, as well. He isn't an elite defensive midfielder like Sandro, and while he's a tidy passer of the ball when he has time, he isn't a great dribbler, nor does possess speed or the vision to break down a defense. He's young and will develop, but we can't throw him in against a team like Everton, with Lennon on the right, and expect there to be loads of chances.

Go to 4-3-3, with Soldado on for Lennon and Capoue on for Bentaleb. Use Townsend as a late game sub to run at them in the final 10 minutes for Dembele.

Can you be our manager, please?

I mean it. :woot:

Lennon is just so poor, you would think as he got more experienced he'd add more variation to his play, but it's the same old predictable shit from him everytime.

It's even worse then the same shit. He doesn't want to run at all where previously he could run and run.

It's funny to read all the moaners who want a return to defensive midfielders basically fishing their wish and still moaning. We've played three guys in the middle and shoved Eriksen on the left and we're getting exactly what we had with AVB - little penetration, reasonably solid, a nothing game. Some people think Capoue should be on for Bentaleb...it'll be six of one half a dozen of the other. We'll still have three in the centre; hard to beat but crowding each other. Unless we support Adebayor, this has 0-0 or an Everton win written all over it. And it's not because we don't have a hallowed DM. It's because we do.

I'd take Bentaleb off for Townsend and push Eriksen into the middle. It'll remain 4-5-1 with that solidity of numbers in the middle, but Eriksen is more attack minded and may support Adebayor more. Lennon and Townsend could then try to stretch the play a bit out wide.

I can't wait to see the AVB detractors claim that Sherwood now doesn't reflect what they wanted, after he continues this doctrine of anarchic football. Kinda like today's Republicans who now say they weren't behind Bush after the fuck-ups were finally realised.

Naughtiness is a better defender and lays on better passes than Walker does at present.

Seriously, why do so many of you support us if you hate half the squad? Far too many on here appear to only follow Spurs so they can slag off the players - don't see you coming out to congratulate anyone when they do well other than Lloris & Walker.

Read what you're typing before you hit return - you're picking on specific players for poor team performance simply because you need something to kick. Everton have played fast and have tactically outsmarted us, not targeted a weak player and exploited them, it's all over the pitch. The only outfield exceptions in that first half were Dembele & Eriksen and they both had to work so, so hard to get anything.
