I take exception to anybody even implying that Everton haven't spent good money.

Their most expensive possible XI:

Howard
Jagielka Yobo Distin Baines
Gosling Heitinga Fellaini Neville Bilyadentinov
Yakubu

Howard: £3m
Baines: £6m
Yobo: £4m
Heitinga: £5m
Jagielka: £4m
Bilyadentinov: £9m
Distin: £5m
Neville: £3.5m
Gosling: £5m
Yakubu: £11m
Fellaini: £15m

Saha was undisclosed but I'd hazard a guess at Not Cheap.

Arteta, Cahill, Piennaar cost 5.8m between them, and yes those are very good acquisitions for not much, but we did get Huddlestone, Lennon and Kranjcar for a combined 5.8m as well so I'm not that impressed.

Is our squad worth more? Absolutely. Are Everton a cheaply assembled harem of previously unheard of nobodies? Not on your nelly. As for the argument that a lot of their spending has been funded by the combined sale of Rooney and Lescott for 55m, 50m of which was profit we can just say the same having sold Berbatov, Carrick and Keane for a combined 68m, 48m of which was profit.

Everton are a good side. They have produced, discovered, developed and paid good money for some high quality footballers. Any win against them is admirable. There is no shame in being under the cosh for 45 minutes against them, especially when a) it wasn't to the extent that the media portrayed and b) it didn't cost us, and there is a lot of pride in the fact that completely outplayed them for the first 45 minutes, especially when they have beaten both of the top two in recent times.

On top of all this they have an impressive manager, and even if they have injury problems right now, so do we. Anybody who doesn't think Sundays win was a very good one needs their head checked.

Because they're clearly a good, strong side.

In their time with Moyes they've finished in the top four and finished 5th twice. OK, they didn't win the FA Cup last year, but they still beat United at Wembley to get to the final.

I think Everton are a good side, but the quantity of negative comments on here prior to the game I found staggering. Before the season started Evertonians were claiming they had a better squad than us - even some Spurs fans expected thought this would happen. Personally dont understand it.

Yes, Everton do have a decent squad and some top players. They finished 4th once under Moyes, but the league was so much weaker then than it is now. They even had a MINUS 1 goal difference when they finished 4th.

Our best 11 in a 442....

Gomes, Charlie, Ledley, Woodgate, Bale, Lennon, Hudd, Wilson, Modric, Pav, Defoe.

Now for me, not one player in the Everton squad would get in our starting 11. In fact is probably a more reasonable comparison to compare their best 11 to our 2nd 11... then there would be a reasonable debate!

People talk about their injuries because they dont have the squad to cope with them. People talk about us fielding strong sides in the cup despite making approx 5 changes each selection because we have a top squad.

Our injuries this year have been unreal. Modric - 4 months, Lennon - will be over half the season, Woodgate - 1 start all season, King - standard!!!. We will have an absolutely frightening side once Bale, Modric & Lennon are playing in the same side. Love to know how many times they have all started a game for Spurs at the same time - they prob never have.

In summary - Everton are a good side, but I expect us to beat them home and away and that we are a far superior side!

everton are nowhere near our level when it comes to footballing skill

if people rate a team that turns to kicking every time they play us - good luck to them - I'll never understand such a mindset

if neville had broken Bale's leg and perhaps finished his career - how meritorious would their 4th place (completely bottled it in Europe the following season) be heralded

as i say the high rating of everton (who beat a 3rd string man u team at wembley- even reserve team would be complimentary) completely baffles and indeed depresses me

I'm so grateful they're living up to the title 'neverton' brcause they are not a good role model for English football - you could see our players literally jumping as they outskilled them but awaited a retaliatory kick
