Really not understanding all the doom and gloom on here, seems like people moaning just for the sake of it.

I thought we played well today against a typically hard working and well organised Everton team, as well as a pretty poor Ref. Was impressed with how well we battled and dominated the 2nd half, especially after going a goal down, and on another day we could have won 3-2.

True but we didn't win 3-2 or win at all and that is why we may well miss out again as the other two wont make as many mistakes as we do.

I agree, had this been at a different stage of the season I would have been truly happy considering we had no Bale, Lennon, Defoe, Kaboul or Sandro as well as starting with Dempsey on the right...

Great to see Adebayor working hard and I thought Walker had a good game and he was one of the only platers who cold add a bit of urgency to some our attacks due to his pace.

Fact of the matter is though, with no pace, in terms of creativity we're clueless. Have we really become way too reliant on pace?

Not been feeling confident about our top four chances since the Liverpool game. I could see the slip down the slope beginning to happen, but hoped that it would not.

Having said that, you never know when it can all turn in an instant. All it would take is Arsenal drawing or losing against Norwich, and they'd be going into a midweek game with Everton level on games played and still behind us.

Don't know what I want to happen with QPR v Everton next week. The fixture list is kind of conspiring against us like most other things seem to do. If QPR win, Everton go into Arsenal game deflated. If Everton win, QPR are most likely down and will offer little resistance to Arsenal.

Arsenal have won 6/7, the only loss coming to us.

Anyone who thinks their run in is harder or comparable to ours is delusional.

What's the evidence they'll slip up THIS time? Their team is not the team that played in 2012 or 2011 or whatever year.

They scrapped out a win at the Hawthorns with ten men. AVB let Dempsey play 90, put on irrelevant subs with no time left and we've now won one game in 6, lucking out at Swansea.

Sure, I still hope we can get in, but let's not all be naive, "you're not a fan if you say real things that hurt me" bullshit.

6/7? Jesus. That's a fabulous run. I'm sure many of us had hoped that winning the NLD would knock the stuffing out of them.

My apologies. I just remember them continually scoring after Defoe's volley to put us 2-1, and for some reason thought they had scored 5.

I take it you feel very confident that we'll beat them at Stamford Bridge, then?

Not, really. I've given up having expectations of Spurs. We are the most schizophrenic and bizarre of teams. But in a season where we have finally beaten Man United - at their own ground - I refuse to be cowed by Chelsea.

By the time we play again in the PL we could be 7 points behind Arsenal, thats a swing of 14 points in 7 games ffs
They won't win all their games. Don't you remember last year when us and them took turns throwing 3rd away? I know that they got it in the end but just by 1pt.

True we didn't win, but we didn't loose either which is also important and we showed fantastic character to make sure we didn't loose. At the end of the season, this point might prove vital

Bollocks, just checked the result. The daily fail match report said we were badly missing Bale yet we scored 2 goals? 4 points from a possible 12 is a bit crap isn't it. We need some massive results now but we like to do it the hard way so you never know. COYS!

Fair enough but it could also be two dropped as well but my main concern is avb and his lack of organization of the defence set up as currently we are a shambles.

Of the top 6/7 sides we are the worst at conceding at that's not good enough.

Yup. They are 2nd in the 6 games form table (we're 9th) and they are top of the 3 games table (we're 10th).

They have caught up 5 points on us in those 6 games.

I really think it's between us and Chelsea now.

Hard to Tell whose run in is better. We've City they have United. They have Fulham, Villa, Swansea, Everton. We have Wigan, Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland. Then obviously we have each other.

Could be that whoever gets out of Europa first has the better chance of 4th.

Too many of our current followers cannot grasp the fact that we are working with much lower resources than majorty of our top six bretherin and have more incommon with Everton finacialy.

Time for us all to be realistic!

Forget what has happened in previous seasons and look at what we have now. They have won 5 games on the bounce now since the NLD in all comps, with the last few without 2 of their best players (Jack & Theo). We on the other hand threw away the LFC game, got spanked in Milan, never turned up against Fulham, just about won away at Swansea, lucky to draw against Basel and today scraped a draw at home against Everton. Not exactly the form we need to secure CL.

Yay. Everton dropped 2 points away at us. I wonder whose points were lost?

Scum and Chavs are fine with both of us losing out again.

I'm not saying be all pessimistic because there were a lot of positives today, but even if we win all our games we might not be 4th.

And it really depends on how fast AVB reacts. He's taken at least 2 games to drop turds like Livermore.

Problem is, we might be knocked out of Europa when Dempsey gets his second start- and let's be honest, it's not a distraction since we're going to have 1 win in 7 games. The demons are still there and don't look to go away anytime soon.
Well it was their two points dropped as they were in the lead. My point was Everton HAD to win today to keep their CL hopes alive. We killed that at least so now it's two from three rather than from four.

I'm listening to 606 on radio 5 at the same time as reading this thread - I'm getting such an overdose of misery and negativity, it might push me over the edge.

Pfft, i'm currently being investigated for a possible heart condition and have been told to avoid 'exertion and stress'. Spurs may LITERALLY kill me before the season is out and i'm still quite upbeat and sanguine.

Fully agree and this form will probably see us get europa again next season and worse lose bale as I can't see him staying without champions league.

He will never play top flight football for his country as in major tournaments so he will need regular champions league in order for him to really test himself.

Lots of chat.
Let's remember this is AVB's first season and he's doing brilliantly with what he has. OK, he'll make the odd sub that people don't agree with, but we have a team energy and focus that I've not seen for years and it will get us places - no one gave him a chance of getting near 4th this season...it's going to be a mad, interesting finale.
Why Huddlestone? I wonder how people can ask this? There' 20 minutes left, we're in the ascendency, we need someone who can change the dynamocs of the game - Hudd did this. I wouldn't play him from the start - but in those situations - he did a good job - we had to change things, Carroll changed it too.
AVB doesn't have HIS team yet - if he gets us 4th with this squad - I'll predict a few comings and goings and some great buys in the summer (I know we should have had them at Xmas!) You have to give the man a few seasons to build his team - this is just the start...and I like what I see.
Today was half our best team! No Kaboul, Sandro, Bale, Lennon, BAE (When fit) and a decent striker....that's all to come! (Imagine any of the top 6 missing 5 key players? - Hard to isn't it? And when they do they, too, are not quite as good as they could be either).
COYS!

That's funny because on Colleymore on talksport I thought the Spurs callers were pretty on the ball, taking the positives.
At the game I just kept thinking that we got into their box more than any game this season, Gylfi, Holtby and Adebayor stepped up and took responsibility and ownership of the ball more than I've seen all season, their movement and support of each other was exceptional and Adebayor was more involved in the game than he's been all year.
We played a narrow midfield with the width coming from the full backs, especially Walker who put in a double shift today, which eventually drove a stubborn Everton back to playing in and around their own penalty area.
All in all I was very pleased with what I saw today and am convinced that those players after three or four games would really gel well.
Maybe when Bale plays others step back a bit and leave it to him, after this they need to grasp their potential and take it away from him from time to time which will benefit everyone.
There, how positive and optimistic am I? see I'm growing!

Edit: Just read 2bearis2do's line on Huddlestone today and I couldn't agree more, spot on.

You forget to mention that they have a better team than us. (Unless Adebayor plays the rest of the season like he did today)
