Thing is mate, we might need to play a stronger team if we want to go far.

I expect the likes of Kranjcar, Hudd, Jenas and Pienaar to make up our midfield as we progress...
Yeah, I suppose. You need a good mix of youth and experience.

Tat was weird, but the commentator then muttered something about Coca Cola, so I think maybe he meant, or tried to say he meant, 'e' numbers!

did he say coca cola??

thing is, he probably did mean 'e numbers' - different generation

I was actually a tad dissappointed with Townsend, did well early on but just couldn't engineer enough space often enough and when he did he couldn't pick out a Spurs player...

Maybe being ultra critical?

He's talented and is still learning though.

As a few have said Carroll had a good game. Townsend dissappointed going forward but like Rose we may have another future LB there. Wish he didn't look quite so like Lewis Hamilton

Chalky was the pick of the seniors

The game was ultra tedious but job done

No excuses excepted for Hudd, another poor performance from him. Pav also poor. Carroll looked to be a neat intelligent footballer. Townsend and Fredericks got very tired. Of the established players only Corluka and Kaboul looked reasonable but not outatanding.

Carroll was decent. Hudd and Bassong were worrying. Pav was useless.

That sums it up pretty much...

Hudd doesnt look fit at all, and not just match fitness he just doesnt look like he has any energy in him at all (less than usual). Positionally was all over the place as well just strolling around, which didnt help Livermore who I got the impression didnt know whether to sit in midfield or go chasing the opposition across the pitch and win the ball back.

Bassong has no brain unfortunately, doesnt read the game at all but pace bails him out of trouble a lot of the time.

Carroll impressed the most out of the youngsters, looks very comfortable on the ball and I think we may see quite a lot more of him this season if he doesnt go out on loan.

Kane worked hard, which is a nice surprise when viewing a Tottenham striker. Shame about the Penalty. Didnt get a lot of service so hard to tell with him.

Agree that Townsend isnt a left back. Think he could sometimes cross the ball earlier rather than trying to beat his man. Not bad.

Fredericks isnt ready, and was the least impressive. Needs to go out on loan this year and play regular football.

Hopefully we see more chances for them this year, especially Carroll.

I think when he's on the left he tends to run down blind alley's a bit. In the games I've seen him play he's done better when played on the right, seems to make him think a bit more and have a better end product.

Its quite obvious that Huddlestone hasn't shaken off the effects of that injury, hasn't been the same since.

He tried to take on his man every time he got the ball no matter where he was and his end product was very poor. Wasn't impressed with him tonight. Hopefully when he gets more games he won't try and do everything himself and will keep it more simple. Definitely isn't a left-back either.

In other news, Sevilla got knocked out tonight! Shamrock Rovers from Ireland made it through too!
