Not best of performances but who cares we won and thats all that matters at the moment. Am slightly worried about Corluka was worst performance since coming to us tonight. Am wondering if the signing of Chimbonda has unsettled him a bit.

when harry took over we had 2 points from 8 games

we needed 14 from every 10 for absolute safety 13 from 10 for probable safety

the way the table has shifted, 13 from every 10 is now certain safety

so far HR has 26 from 18, so even if we lose our next two he's still on schedule - I don't expect us to lose our next 2

Ugly play basically means you didn't play, or you played shit. Lately we've been playing ugly a lot.

Lol! Hey Barry, i do actually know what it means, but what i was trying to point out is that i don't think we played ugly football tonight, more to the point it was Hull's ability to close down quickly and stifle our passing which was CAUSING us to play differently NOT ugly!!

You have to remember, we can't play the smooth passing, attacking game against everyone, although we'd love to and i'd love to see it, sometimes we have to grind out wins!

My point is, i think we played quite well, especially in the 2nd half and we kept driving to get that winner, which we did!

Always was all about the result tonight so on that level thank fuck.....

The performance was worringly bad little or no football played at all.

At least the kit man wont have to worry about washing Jenas's shirt tonight.

The more people watch Jenas the more it should become apparent its not what he does that is the major problem its what he doesnt do. He simply is happy to sit in the comfort zone racking up his 10 yrd pass stats simply so DC Boy can get off on his stats.

Dundalk_Spur - 10-02-2009, 09:17 AMI think the JJ thing is he gets caught waiting for people to make the runs he wants them to make, instead of giving the ball that their run requires. Maybe he is playing within a comfort zone and is scared of coming out of it and make mistakes which he will be damned for.

As you can see I had raised this very same point. Its now becoming more than frustrating. He wasn't the onlt poor performer tonight, but how long do you give the guy?

mr consistency jj had another decent game tonight - that's 3.5 out of 3.5 since he came back from injury

the stats I'm sure will confirm that :)

so HR like Jol and JR before him knows that jj is part of our first XI - and how it kills the jj bashers :)

he's played two full prem games, we're unbeaten - that's 2 ppg which ups his average on that too :)

If by ugly football you mean lack movement/creativity/passing etc then yes, you are right.

We don't have the quality to play 'pretty' football. Not all our players are strong and comfortable on the ball - unlike the big 4.

When we play good teams we play better because we are allowed to. When we play physical teams we can't because we don't have enough technique and physique.

Is that 3.5 out of 10. Only kidding mate. I don't rate Jenas much but He played alright today, and I thought he done well against Shaktar.
He needs to grow his hair again. He was more consistent with longer hair.

I thought we were very poor in the first half, and the second was much better.

That was a huge win. I hope its our turning point.

it's a fantastic result - and I don't think any serious injuries

we can now play a 2nd XI v shaktar and be ready for the final to have a go at Man U

Yet two posts previously you reckon we should get Jose (as if he would want to drop down to our level now he is in the elite) who is the king of winning ugly.
