I couldn't see from my seat in the ground but who was meant to be marking Huth?
Wasnt good. Dier was marking him. Ran into Toby Keystone cops style and was rolling around on the floor 4M away when Huth headed it.
Seems to me we still sometimes defend the same way we have for last 3 or 4 years, everyone run into the goal area and stand there.
Certainly don't look comfortable defending set pieces.
By contrast Leicester looked like they could deal with our corners and set pieces all night long.

My point is that it's the most mediocre of seasons in the premier league. Arsenal joint top were thrashed by Southampton, Chelsea are struggling mid table, Man City dropping points continuously and Spurs are still up in the mix of things. Perhaps 'we should be' beating teams like Leicester but we didn't end of move on it's not the end of our season.
Leicester are joint top: why should we be beating them?

Been saying it all season, Leicester are simply a more balanced and more athletic side than we are, and those are the sides we struggle against. Fitting that they should beat us in a crucial match for top four places.

This AM3 with three creative players behind Kane and no pace or incisive dribbling ability absolutely must stop. It will never establish consistency enough to succeed in any top league, and especially not the EPL. Poch must go back to the drawing board, or these results will continue against these more balanced sides. It is ridiculous that this is still a problem three years after selling Bale.

With no pilot bit in the side, you will never be able to place the screws into the opposition. How Poch still cannot see this, especially after the clear mandate to bring in additional pace and dribbling ability in the summer, is beyond me.

Ok cheers. I agree with you're summary of our set piece defending. It's sadly spot on.

Not that I necessarily agree, but he would say he bought Son and N'Jie for that reason.

I just thought he had a good first half. Second half not as great but to tell you the truth there weren't many other options for motm. Ranieri would probably have given it to lee Mason!
Probably worst ref performance we've had this season.

I haven't felt this gutted about a result in such a long time.

Felt like we were on the start of something special, 3 points tonight and vs Sunderland on Saturday would have us in such a strong position. Now we back into a right scrap with a load of teams for the final CL place. Ugh :(:(

...on this basis I don't think we have the players for a fight like that this season.
Yep, switch it up when we need a goal. Rather than just repeat the same attacking formation time after time.

Bringing another striker on just keeps the opposition defenders under more pressure. Have a different striker to deal with etc.

I had no faith in us scoring tonight.

It would even give us the option of dropping Kane back into the second striker role where he can do a lot of damage given his skills and bring on a pacy striker /poacher late in the game. Mix it up a little.

That's part of the point. There's evidence there that he at least identified the problem from last season. I understand that N'jie is hurt and that Son is recently coming off an injury, but I don't understand the favor for Alli in the No 10 at the expense of Son being on the pitch. Son is never going to rebuild confidence with the way he's being managed at the moment, and the current first choice XI is going to continue to struggle for consistency with their lack of balance. Simply not a good situation.

Completely agree with this. Of our attacking players, only Kane or Alli are really top drawer. We desperately need a player like Chadli or perhaps Njie to come good and add some drive and intent to our attack. We just seem to spend so much time flaffing around.

Went to the game. Thoughts.

Score when you are on top.
Stop taking so long to move the ball
Ref was massively shit
Leicester are very well drilled
We couldn't score from a corner in an empty stadium
Needed a line breaker tonight like a fit dembele
Just when you think walker is back to his best.
Agree with the post above. And I'm sure Leicester could care less but they are like a dull Stoke of old.
Goal was unfortunate
At least man city the scum Manure and chelscum didn't win

Oh and although better Lamela still frustrates the shit out of me.

We move on!!

I cannot understand some of Poch's decisions at all. Listening to a few saints fans that was one of his downfalls, as they tend to believe he had his rigid favourites. I cannot say they are right as they had a front 3-4 that was producing in Lallana, Lambert, Rodgriguez the main three. We have Lanevand Alli, and that's it.

I would like to see for now Kane, Son and Alli played every match for now, accepting Kane seems knackered, and bring in another striker who will become a four. This will give movement with an end product of goals. Chadli for me has goals but takes couple months to recover his sharpness after any injury.

Same. Had he just a little more agility and coordination he'd be a helluva player, but instead if his first move doesn't come off it equates to a loss of the ball. He's not great at getting himself out of a tight situation, but he does recover well after concession to compensate. Even so, we seem to critically lack a genuine athlete who can pounce on hectic situations and take advantage of them. Lamela seems to get into a lot of these positions, and because of his ingenuity he creates at least a loose ball, but he just simply lacks the agility to get himself to the ball first.
