Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers:"I don't know what Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez have to do get a penalty. It was bordering on assault on Gerrard [Reds appealed when Gerrard was challenged by Mousa Dembele in the first half].

Did I miss both of these incidents?

Good to see Rodgers is properly taking on the Dalglish role of 'it's everyone's fault but my own'.

When the oppersition win the ball in their own haft its the job of defoe ,dempsey ,lennon, bale then our midfieldes to contest the ball , trouble was we lost the ball or should say gave it away and just comming back into the final 3rd , the times the ball went through our middle unchallenged was criminal ,lucky we were not playing the top 3 we would have been soundly spanked

Rodgers just said Liverpool deserved to win and would have been unhappy with a draw

yep because Hugo had to pull of world class save after world class save all night, and they were denied by the woodwork several times and the Ref missed 2 or 3 clear penatly decesions:rolleyes:

Rodgers is an idiot, there's a reason liverpool have won little and drawn so much, they pass the ball around and look threatning and thats it, they just look threatning

This is why we need to start getting Carroll in the team on a more regular basis. He shows for the ball in a way that none of our current first teamers do. Puts them to shame with it really. Our lack of intelligent movement depresses me.

Yeah it would have been nice to see him on tonight around the time Dembele went quiet. The thing is though its a mentality problem across the team. Carroll played in the Lazio game but didn't do that job there (he's certainly capable mind). It just takes a player to set an example and the rest of the team will follow. Like a defender making a huge tackle or a striker harassing the ball all the way back to the keeper gets the rest of the team fired up. We're so passive once we have a lead. It's like we have to wait for the other team to score before we have permission to play again

We were shocking for 60 mins, Liverpool should have scored 3 or 4 goals and we didnt have a sniff after our first 2 goals. If we played like Liverpool we would be bloody annoyed we didnt come away with something. Dont get me wrong i jumped in the air when we won, but we were damn lucky to

I made a complaint to the police on the way out, told them I'd witnessed a robbery on the pitch :)

How on earth did we not concede 4 ?

RODGERS: "We had 65% possession tonight. To me, that's more important than goals."

And this ... in a week when Benitez goes to 'The Vile Ones'.

I look at the options on the bench today, no striker and no experience out wide.. AVB's options are limited at the moment.

Also I think it's definitely a mental thing, you only have to look at our 2nd half against Arsenal with 10 men when we had nothing to lose. Probably one of our better 2nd half performances this season even though we did concede 2.

I agree that Carroll has enormous potential - and I love his positive attitude, but he is still a bit green for the big games and when Dembele is fit - you play him..Carroll will come good with time, very good.
