I don't think Poch will make many changes, judging by the bench today...but I'd love to see Dembele and Lennon in for this one,

We need to really rip into that back line.

I expect that there will be yet another 'reaction' to a couple of dodgy performances and we will have a good go at them. However if its open and we go toe to toe with them I fear we'll get outgunned after giving a decent account of ourselves. Defensively though you can really get at them, especially on the counter and if you have players willing to make runs and position themselves right up top against the centrebacks, occupy them and give them something to deal with.

12:00 PM kick-off on a Sunday pretty much guarantees a flat atmosphere. Most people will be stone cold sober!

I suspect United will cut through our midfield and defence like a hot knife through butter. There's no steel to our team whatsoever. Even if we manage to get a goal (and there's every chance of that), we'll just sit back and collapse like a dizzy fat man on ice.

Going to guess 4-2 to United. We'll create chances, but they'll create a lot more.

One positive thing is that the team apart from Lloris, Fazio and Vertonghen got about 90 minutes of sleep against Leicester, and should be as fresh as a young Will Smith.

Two massive home games in a row would love six points but reality is we might get a point.

Everyone here expected us to roll over and take it against Everton after the horror show win against Hull, and it was probably one of our best League performances this season.

I think we'll get a point. 2-2, Lamela and Kane.

...i think under AVB we went an entire season without scoring in the first half or something ridiculous like that...

It wasn't about the first half. We didn't score in the first 15 minutes all last season until the final game against Villa.

Jesus some people with a serious hard on for Man Utd here.

I know they have improved lately but let's not forget that the team we beat yesterday, whilst being really shit, put 5 past Utd.

They beat Newcastle convincingly, so did we, only we kept a clean sheet.

They are not the invincible Utd of old, we can do them. Not saying we will as thats the thing with football, but they aren't anything to be afraid of IMO.

Chelsea on the other hand....:dead:

I think we should play them at their own game, they've won their games playing on the break, they can't break teams down. If we let them come at us we can smother them and get at them with our own break away play, will be ugly, but atm we're not good enough to out play and dominate them. COYMFS!!!

5!

i'm so confident of doing them if we put out the right team. newcastle should've had a penalty early on yesterday, might've been a totally different game then.

The hot knife could also cut through the steel if it was hot enough....

Just watched MOTD Man U. Terrifying. They may have a shocking back 3 but it's the front 7 and the awesome keeper that make up for it somewhat.

Given how weak our centre midfield has looked, I'm very worried about Rooney's runs from deep. Would take a draw.
Dembele has to play and stick to Rooney like glue. We need a player with strength and pace and ability on the ball to mark Rooney and none of our others have all those attributes.
Their whole system reminds me of Chelsea's play when mata would make dummy runs into the box and drag defenders away or just run in late, unmarked, when the defence had already been distracted by hazard, eto or Torres. This is the threat of Rooney playing in midfield and mata in a sort if free role behind the forwards. We need to be defensive to the extent that we have numbers available, which is why I would play 442 as someone else suggested. Two banks of four sat deeper and a front two who can hold the ball up and allow for players to join the counter attack.

Okay, Davies def starts and keep the CB pairing... not sure on walker's fitness, so a question mark there...

Bentaleb and Mason in the mid -- ride that pairing for now...

Eriksen and Chadli (could put Lennon here based on earlier banter), plus Kane in the #10 spot...

Lamela up top in the #9 to tear that manUre backline apart (y)

The result will probably rest on Lloris' performance, but COYS!!!!!!!!!!! :singing::jimlad::ninja:

Van Gaals a good manager but in essence he is trying some Dutch version of the Ardiles managerial playbook.. they are vulnerable to width, the back three look like they don;t talk to each other, it's astonishing how top heavy they are

suspect it will be which team is the least crap on the day.. i'm putting money on us to snatch a victory :)

United are not particulary good and i would guess its gonna be an even and open game. Like us they also have scraped wins this year, allthough not as many as us lol. And like us their keeper have saved a lot of points for them.

2-1 Spurs!
