The only thing that I like about Townsend at the moment is that he's a wildcard, he has the ability to split a team and create something from nothing with his pace plus delivering a spark which we lack so much especially at home, and is also why I liked seeing Lennon back in the team so much. Only thing is more often than not Townsend will not deliver.

Seriously, what line up from our current squad would?

I would have liked to see Lennon and Dembele start, as they are always good against United. Then I thought we could do with some more creative, like a 4-1-4-1 or 4-3-3, but heyho, lets wait and see.

What's up with Lennon? I haven't heard he was injured... is he injured, or just in the dog house?...

Quite like this lineup tbh. Some balance among the attacking mid positions for once.

That subs bench though.

I reckon the premier league should introduce a 5 a side game after the real match to use subs who haven't played. Make a league out of it, could be fun.

Dear god...

I agree with the back 5, and I think Vlad has been better than walker at right back mainly due t the fact he can pass a ball.

Eriksen, stambouli, Kane, Mason I agree with too, but Chadli and Townsend?

And 5-2-3-1?

it going to be a long afternoon, me thinks...

But COYS!!

But what happens if all 3 subs are used and one was a keeper, leaving no keeper for the 5 aside ;)

Sounds like a fun idea though.

I don't necessarily agree with the personnel selection but I like the fact our coach seems to be tailoring his tactics towards the opposition. Let's just hope it works.

More importantly, fucking hell we got shafted on gametime. Still fucking dark here and I ran into every piece of furniture to the coffee maker.

They playing three at the back, and Young and Valencia out wide, who can't defend. They have weaknesses, we just need to exploit them.

Dembele and Lamela should've both started this game. Townsend has had an atrocious record of providing end product in league matches. In the last 16 months, he has 1 inadvertent goal and 0 assists in his last 1390 league minutes. Find me another winger in the EPL with that type of record. He completely alters the flow of the front four with the way he constantly cuts inside and shoots, and once again, he will be utterly desperate to score. He knows he probably won't start again after today unless he does something sensational, and that will mean he goes for the spectacular. We've seen him do this multiple times since he fell out of the first XI around this time last season, and it can cause frustration in the side. Maybe he'll do something special today and win the game for us, but on the basis of the last year, it's not particularly likely.

If they get an early goal, we'll be in trouble. I think an early goal from Eriksen is what we'll need and hopefully get.

Balance. Far too easy for teams to contain teams with Chadli, Eriksen, and Lamela across, especially the better ones. Very little stretch there, just visionaries/string pullers and not enough pace.
