Joint top goal difference, GD is normally a good indicator of where teams will finish, we are miles ahead of other teams and I think GD is a marker of defensive and offensive consistency.

If we can continue how we have been into the New Year I think we should be realistically thinking about 3rd, let alone 4th.
I'm still realistically thinking about 1st!

Good win and Leicester, Utd, Palace, Chelsea, Watford and West Ham all dropping points.

Only negative for me is I don't understand why Kane has to play 90 mins again in a game where we are totally dominant with a tough away fixture in 48hrs.

Never say never my friend, I don't see why we shouldn't aim for that, on our day we can beat Arsenal and City so they aren't "better" sides than us.

We just need to remain consistent, that is the most important thing, if we do I don't see why we can't aim for the title, it seems unlikely but I wouldn't write us off at all.

Love it! Had a poor day yesterday with half the family in bed with the flu so this performance has put Christmas back on track. Have the Kane doubters finally given up?!!

Agreed. We need to go for it, IMO. Shore up the squad with another striker in January. Keep taking it 1 game at a time and see what happens. In a good position right now and every place in the top 4 is wide open.

What do you think of Alli's showing so far, JH? Know you were saying you had your misgivings before kick-off, but surely his end product is justifying his continued selection now? (Or at least, it is in my book.)
Very pleased with him today, @scat1620. A livewire performance. I think his constant inclusion has contributed to stodgy midfield play, but I thought Dier was the one who was compromising us this afternoon.

For me it's more about the defensive consistency, and for three reasons. 1- Alderweireld is looking an absolutely brilliant purchase by the club. He has slotted remarkably seemlessly into our back line. 2- having a genuine No 6 in the form of Dier, instead of two hybrids with unclear responsibilities in front of the back line. 3- The forwards seem to have figured out the structured press.

Offensively I think there's actually still work to be done, but defensively we look stunningly sharp.

Because we're definitely going to sign a striker worthy of the name in January, and we can rest Kane at our convenience with that second striker on the books. Yessiree, no danger of us not signing a decent striker in January, not at Tottenham "we never ever snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" Hotspur... :troll:

Lamela was king today, tracked back, tackled, didn't give away needless fouls and going forward he was superb, always doing something positive and making the correct decisions. Apart from the 4 on 1 which really I'm not going to attach full blame to him although he should have passed sooner I think someone should have run behind him...anyway great performance.

Great game for the start of the festive period. All round was good, hopefully Dembele knock was ok. Eriksen seemed pissed with himself. He should know he had a bad game, probably the worse of the entire team.. Good that he knew at least he will strive to improve in his next game. Wish for his influence in the next game against Watford!
