This is the first match in a long time where it means nothing.

The Arsenal match meant something for obvious reasons
The Benfica match meant something because I still had hope we could get through
The Southampton match meant something because I still had a tiny hope of 4th
The Liverpool match meant something because I didn't want us to get thrashed again (it was inevitable anyway)

But this match is effectively pointless and irrelevant.

After the results today we are currently 7th which is perfect. If we could lose on Monday it would be the best result. Although I suspect we will win this pointless game.

We can't make the top four and we don't want to finish 5th or 6th or we will will spend another season in the crappy Europa League.

What we need, like Liverpool this season, is a clean run at the league.

Sometimes a couple of steps back actually help move us forward.

I know some won't agree with this but then what the hell do they know :)

Prediction?
Sunderland: 2 Tottenham: 0; Altidore(2)

After the game, Tim says "There was nothing I could do to change anything" while on the bench sits Eriksen, Soldado and Paulinho. Daniel interrupts the interview and tells Tim to fuck off on air.

As much as Europa can be a pain in the ass, the money generated even from the EL is enough to make it worth striving for... And seeing Spurs on terrestrial tv regularly is an added bonuses.

I see what you are saying but I can never want or not be bothered if spurs lose a game

I read on another forum they we are currently top of the fair play league, which would mean a Europa league placing? Of course I could be wrong.

Apparently Sunderland haven't won a Monday night game in 12 years...............this could be their big chance and knowing us as we do.............it would be no surprise.

Considering it's now a route into the champions league we should be taking it seriously, albeit it needs to be handled correctly given the amount of nothing games it throws up before it gets worthwhile.

That would be unbelievably bad news for us. Fulham qualified for the Europa League via fair play, and had to start their season on the 30th of June.

Won't happen, England aren't one of the Top 3 Fair Play countries and we're not top of the England Fair Play League

As bill nick once said we are nothing if we are not in Europe nothing and that is why we should always aim to be in as many competions as possible that is what big clubs do.

Everton is also a good team with a good manager. We have a few good players and an absolutely horrible manager. We wont overtake Everton and United will overtake us. We will finish 7th.
Probably a blessing in disguise for the players if not the club
