Defoe needs to make some near posts runs, he's too static.

His off the ball movement is average at best.

why does VdV take set pieces, never seen anything to suggest hes any good at them, anyone know how many we scored from his deliveries?

Why is he playing in the first place

AVB being cautious. If we had our CM he would not be. After last week I would have been OK with JJ starting, however I can see that giving him a chance to improve from that mare was a fair call.

Considering we got no target man I think Bale and Lennon should switch sides. As it stands there is little point putting crosses into the box.

Everything about our play so far has been good apart from in the box where there appears to be little to no options for the man on the ball so most of the time it's a hopefully cross into the box.

I would also agree that Defoe is not intelligent enough in his movement to get on the end of the moves we have created so far.
