It was the midfield combo of dembele and paulinho that really got to me today.

i cant stress enough how important it is to have footballers in the middle of the park that are able to make those quick intricate passes into the holes that Eriksen/defoe are in.

Paulinho and dembele are NOT those type of players that will take the game to west ham or to teams that sit back and defend.

Very very basic football they both play. Not once did i see either of them make that defence splitting pass or more importantly feed Eriksen in that middle (who is essential to our attacking play).

The more simple passes we make (which we were making for 90mins) it will only make west ham sit back and regroup. Would love to see Capoue be our main starter in midfield because he has that ability in his locker.

Another thing i was sad to see is that not one player (apart from townsend) looked up for it especially it being a derby. Credit west ham because they shower far more heart and grit.

1st half we were appalling and i was hoping AVB spoke with the team with anger and passion.

Yet we come out and was even worse from the 1st half!!!

Shocking display, it was all too inevitable for my liking after every minute went on i was disappointed to see no one stepping up.

Really hope AVB studies this game and really look at the most obvious weak points we have as a team.

The whole team must look at this game and learn from it all.

People need to stop criticising the players, only so much they can do when they are in extraordinarily poorly structured line ups with awful balance.

Lamela is an RW/CAM, no more, he cannot play left it limits him massively.

Soldado needs support up front, we bought a striker who needs support creatively and we haven't given him said creative support, if we aren't going to give him the creative support we may as well have bought Benteke for extra money.

Paulinho, having to perform different roles every game, needs a balanced side infront of him and a DM alongside him(Sandro/Capoue) to allow him to be his box to box best.

Eriksen is young and new to the prem, he is doing well but he is still showing a lack of maturity in his game sometimes when he doesn't come deep and demand the ball or stay structured in CAM when we don't have the ball.

Chadli, he doesn't have the pace and looks a bit slow and unfit at times but give him time and he may come good.
Fuck, I think I read you all wrong, mate.

No plan b as others have said. The whole Adebayor situation has come back to bite AVB. I still rate Soldado and think he'll come good, but something tells me Benteke would have better suited to the way we set up and play.

I hope Walker gets charged for a ticket after being a spectator throughout.

actually what's with the bedding-in theory for Lamela? he's been through pressure all his life... throw him to RM or Barca and he probably wouldn't bat an eyelid and continue playing like he used to..

just play him now!!! Siggy started a game and not scored, so it's fair! it will not be any worse!

The theory was that we're a club who can afford to spend our record transfer fee on a player and then not play him.

Turns out that theory was a load of bullshit.

He's back training with the first team. So whatever situation there actually was...doesn't appear to be a situation anymore. Which is good news because I think he could forge a really good partnership with Soldado.

I know players come from different cultures/walks of life etc etc blah blah blah. They are all human and some will settle quickly and others will need time and patience(not much of that on here mind you ;))

And it's easy to throw in these types of excuses after an embarrassing defeat like that one.

But it's far simpler than that for me AVB made very basic and very costly errors today and he has also under and over estimated the quality of a major part of the squad.

For example today 1st big mistake Defoe over Soldado even with hindsight of todays game, that's a very bad decision. If Sandro and Kaboul are still struggling to play consecutive matches, then why the fuck are they travelling all the way to Russia and back when surely League games are much more important. Dawson and a.n other/s should be playing these european ties.

Benny out on loan, surely AVB couldn't foresee Rose getting injured but then he must know he may need adequate cover at some point and Benny is far far better than Naughton.

And Walker, who else do we have? Again AVB must clearly have over estimated Walkers worth to the team because he's never looked like he was going to be replaced at any point during the transfer window.

Going back to the first issue, yes when players get settled the team may well function better and hopefully today won't be repeated and i am not to worried about this part.

What worries me are the basic errors and poor choices/selection decisions(and it is NOT the first time it's happened) AVB is making.

Sandro Kaboom and Soldado must be playing as often as is possible in the league campaign.

Also Vertonghen really needs to improve. Not having the best start to the season imo. My favourite player at spurs but it is plain to see he is not playing the way we want him to play.

Looking forward to the break.

Because once we are back i would love to see Lamela/Sandro/Capoue in the team ready to rumble.

Adebayor and lennon also will be huge.

I think he was injured. Might have been a chance for Chiriches. Walker is all about speed, so if he can't go at full tilt, there isn't much point.

Last time West Ham beat us at home I was 7 years old. Shame it couldn't last longer.

Hopefully the international break will do us some good.

AVB got it very wrong today, just like he did against arsenal. It was clear that Nolan and Diame were pressing against our defence and midfield, so we needed Sandro there to counter that with his physicality and ability to win the ball back in our half. Dembele had an average game but it was little surprise considering he played the full 90 on Thursday. Width was needed badly, so Eriksen should have gone out there to get more space since he was being bullied in the middle. The Lamela change wasn't a bad idea, but he should have been instructed to stay out wide, or him and Townsend should have swapped wings.

Sigurdsson offered no width on the left, and continually cut inside, and Naughton seemed reluctant to push in to their final third at all. Therefore our only threat came from the right (mainly from Townsend) or the middle.

Having said that, several of the players had a really poor game today. Walker was poor, Eriksen guilty of losing the ball too much, Defoe guilty of missing a good chance when he should have clipped it over the keeper (1-0 to us and the game changes dramatically). Only Townsend can really leave that pitch with his head held high.

Totally shit today, that has to be one of the poorest performances I've had the misfortune of witnessing from a Spurs side at white hart lane in quite some time.

1. Drop Dawson for Chiriches (but is he ready?)
2. Give Walker a break, he's burned out (but who replaces him?)
3. Give Lamela more minutes and at RW (but then what happens to Townsend?)
4. Start Soldado. Not Defoe.
5. Put a fucking DM on the pitch Andre. Sandro now, Capoue after the intl. break.
6. Have the balls to make the right subs early.
7. Start Eriksen and Holtby in a game together, switching between LM and CM. Both in AM function.
8. Buy a LB in Jan.

OK 1-3 are risky but FFS 4-8 are bloody obvious!!!!

Start sparking AVB. You're better than this.

AVB has no fucking excuses, Levy has back him to the hilt. He has brought him real quality players and players capable of winning things. Kyle Walker?? AVB has chosen NOT to replace him so there is no point moaning every week when he starts, thats AVBs doing. Dawson? Shouldn't be playing in the league but in europe and if Kaboom is only going to play one game at a time, then it must be FUCKING LEAGUE GAMES.

Yyyup.

Its not a point of partnerships, if teams are parking the bus against us then you need a big strong forward.

If Ade is on the pitch I guarantee you the oppos line will instantly come up by 20 yards then you have space down the channels to slip in your quicker players.

As I said at the start of the season, this is the 1 thing that has disappointed me with AvB.
