Tottenham's Paratici loses appeal against 30-month ban

FABIO PARATICI, Tottenham’s Managing Director of Football, has had his 30-month ban from footballing activity upheld by the Italian sporting authorities.

Paratici had appealed the ban, which was imposed by the Italian Football Federation in January, after his former club, Juventus, were found guilty of false accounting, market manipulation and filing misleading financial statements.

It wouldn't be a shock if serious engagements with candidates on our shortlist were delayed until after the outcome of this appeal. If the club's intention is to stick with a structure that includes a DoF, then it would make perfect sense to appoint the new DoF before the new manager. It's possible that we change the hierarchy (it wouldn't be the first time Levy has flip-flopped on having a DoF), in which case the search for a new manager may progress now that Paratici's future is resolved. It's also possible that negotiations are much further along than we know. No news doesn't necessarily mean no action. If I recall correctly, the first ITK on Mourinho's appointment was that he had already arrived at the ground to sign a contract, so we shouldn't necessarily expect media speculation about our eventual appointment in the days/weeks/months leading up to the appointment.

Stellini has been confirmed as caretaker manager until the end of the season, so the only real risk of delaying by a few weeks is the potential of Chelsea snapping up our primary target in the meantime. The fact that the the media has linked both clubs with the same jobless big-name managers suggests that us supposedly being after the same target(s) is nothing more than speculation. What's far more realistic is that we've either resolve the DoF situation first, have held very discrete discussions with someone currently in work (who wouldn't join until the end of the season), or we're still in the process of figuring out what direction to go in.
