Aye, true enough. He graduated from the academy. We signed him at 16 and I don't think he was involved with any other club beforehand so credit to our scouts but he's more akin to Fabregas, imo. 18 months later he was starting for us and no disrespect to our academy, I'll not credit them with teaching him everything he knows in that time.

Towsend is true product though. Been with us since he was in single digits.

Man, I miss the famous 5. Doomed to failure of course but so much fun

Reporter on Talksport just said the new deal is 16k a week, so not the kinda money that was banded about in the press, but I'd assume there's some bonus's and clauses tied in so he can boost it up as he progresses.

That's a really good deal and I'm sure you're right in the bonus/clauses built in. It also gives us a lot of potential for increased wage packages down the line all while staying within our wage scale should Andros continue to improve.

For some reason I still don't think he'll make it, doubt he'll pass the next level

I think he has the ability to go to the 'next level', but it all comes down to attitude and effort now. The hype surrounding his England performances reminded me of Wright-Phillips...a player who had a brief purple patch then sank like a frozen shit cube from outer space.

I think the fact that we have Lamela and Lennon (who I still rate) competing for the RM position should help to keep him focused this season. Whatever happens in the future, he's playing well so far and it's exciting to think that he might just prove to be the real deal.

Wright Phillips isn't shit just lost his way lee sharp Bentley the list goes on.

Routledge lost his way too and came back..all are talented. Townsend has shown us he has talent the rest is up to him....the signs are good looking back at his loan history theres fight and desire in him.

Good points talent is the starting point. I think it also depends on the way players are used, the belief on them from managers/coaches and being in the right overall environment which does not always equate with being at the 'biggest' clubs

Moving him to the left may very well work out for him.

1. He is good with both feet
2. Should be easier to hit Soldado with strong crosses (left foot), which he thrived on at Valencia (he isn't a known win header player, he scores screamers from volleys).
3. Would allow Lamela to come into RW.
4. Overtaking Welbeck in England should be easier than overtaking Walcott.

I'd take a good 700, 000 a year

Of course but you didn't just inspire England to qualify for the World Cup. I hope Levy is not using his commitment as a Spurs fan to pay him less.

He's now a full English international and 1st team player. I would have expected £35-40k.

But I get your point
