Of course but you didn't just inspire England to qualify for the World Cup. I hope Levy is not using his commitment as a Spurs fan to pay him less.

He's now a full English international and 1st team player. I would have expected £35-40k.

But I get your point
Townsend was willing to accept the contract. That suggests to me he is happy with the terms. There's no point adding an unnecessary 20-25k a week to our wages bill just to satisfy some fans who think 15k isn't enough.

The guy is the black Bale

I haven't seen a buzz of expectation and excitement like when Townsend has the ball in a long time, amazing confidence

Keeps on at this rate of progress he will break the transfer record in a few years

He's got the lot... pace, balance, strength, two footed and shoots at every opportunity.. He is the most positive player we currently have.

Love the lads attitude and seems to have equal measures of both confidence and groundedness, which seems like a rare thing.

He also has a knack of saying the right thing (and pretty eloquently too) in interviews. Firstly he helped defuse the Hodgson joke situation and then when asking for his best moment, in what has been an unbelievable week, naturally choose his England debut but didn't forget to mention scoring for his "home town club". All straight after working his nuts off for 90 mins.

Great moment to be a Tottenham fan but can't imagine how he's feeling right now and fair play to the lad, he's deserved it.

He has learnt so much from watching bale last season. Yes, it was good for him to go to qpr but I think being around, and seeing bale has given him the confidence we are now seeing in his game.
He's a real talent who's in a great run of form however we need to make sure we don't slip into the same trap as we did with bale last season and expect him to bail us out every week.

I've been talking about lack of killer instinct and winning mentality in our team since the start of the season but I'm starting to think that Townsend might be the answer. He's homegrown player, spurs fan, he's direct, confident, always playing forward, he has no fear, always positive and so on.

I don't believe it is 16,000. He is no nut and knows how much he is worth and of course his agent would have bargained for more. If it is anything less than 30,000, it can't be any lower than 25,000.

Over the last week or so, Towsend has showed all the signs Bale did a few years back. It's the running at defenders with no fear and tiring out the fullbacks, all things Bale used to do for us.

I'm also actually amazed at how much better he's become in such a short period of time. I think the rise of Towsend has taken a LOT of pressure off our new signings, which is only a good thing :)

Andros will get even better as physically he has it all......its the new found confidence that his propelling him forward. He now knows he can skin most of the PL and defenders dont hold any fear for him anymore plus he has a group of talented team mates around him. This is no Bale one man show - there are committed players all over the park for Spurs he can count on. I also love his enthusiasm for the game. Long may it continue!

Did you know? Townsend has struck 35 shots (including blocked) in the Premier League this season - only Arsenal's Olivier Giroud (36) has more.

Shows how much more effective Giroud is. Townsend has a way to get yet. He's exciting but not effective

Most of those are outside the area, you can't compare them in that way... One match Townsend shot way too much when passes were available to him. Just made him look greedy but he's been addressing that more recently. Top player, lots of time to learn!

The way he can get a shot off and be effective even when the opposition has got 11 men behind the ball will be extremely useful for us.
