Well with no transfer fee involved with Llorente you can pay a bit more on wages. Probably still too much than our Daniel will pay though.

If there's no transfer fee then it'll be a pre-contract for the summer. Bilbao are still going to demand c.£6-8m for him this window.

Yeah, his wage demands are reportedly enormous - at least what Ade was on at City (i.e. about 3 times what our highest earners are on).

It's essential to be identifying players with a modicum of intelligence in the final third so the likes of Isco and Willian must still be very high up the list.

I think Isco is well out of our reach now, he's an absolute magician and I think we've missed that boat. There is a seemingly endless procession of Spanish midfielders isn't there, so if Isco is not possible, there will be a dozen others who are about to burst onto the scene that I'd like to think we are looking at.

I can see Ince going to Man U, he'd thrive there and the connection with his old man goes a long way. I'd definitely have walcott if he was prepared to come in, but it wouldn't be worth all the aggro he'd receive because of it.

Are Malaga still in financial difficulties though?

Granted, it would be a massive coup and conversely I can't see any major spending in January but he is someone who we should be pursuing at the very least.

I would throw in James Rodriguez into the mix as well but considering we would have to deal with the Porto board again, I would say this is more in hope than expectation.

I'm not sure about their finances no - but I would imagine that there are bigger fish than us who will be looking to make a move for him now, but we can always dream. I genuinely think it would be the most excited I've been about a signing if we pulled it off, I just don't see it.

Not seen this Rodriguez guy, but I will trust your always informed opinion.

I love James Rodriguez. True goal-scorer from the wing or an attacking mid. Absolutely no-doubt-about-it talent.

Unfortunately, he's probably worth about 27-30m.

Ba - if the price is right?

Will he be at the ACN? If the 7.5m price is true could be worth a gamble but we badly need cover for Defoe in Jan because reckon Togo will convince him to return

Yes he's most likely priced out of our league but if anyone will be keeping a close eye on him, it will be AVB surely.

Probably more of an adequate replacement for Bale on the left hand side than Lennon but like you said, a great talent and would be our creative hub going forward - him and Falcao for Colombia must be a match made in heaven!

Falque and/or Ceballos?!

Not with his knee issue.

Not with his knee issue.

How bad is his knees though? He's played a season and a half at Newcastle without problems. Some may say that he's just a knock away from being injured, but that goes for all footballers.

I'm laughing at any suggestions of Ince or Walcott. Why do we need more tactically unaware, unintelligent players with no craft of guile? We have enough of them already.

Falque and/or Ceballos?!.

Ha yes, Falque certainly from what I've seen isn't far off ready, Ceballos is younger and needs to develop a bit more but one to keep an eye on.

Saw them both for the U21s Vs Southampton - impressed with both.

It really is about time we started seeing Carroll, Falque, Mason, Parrett more regularly.

Willian/Sanchez for AMR

Moutinho/Isco for CM

Go 4-3-3.

Maybe with a few youngsters if they are particularly promising and available for a reasonable price as backups.

Most people seem to be asking for a bunch of second teamers. What we need, and have needed for years, are players good enough to slot into the first XI.

Sell Hudd and Dawson (plus other usual suspects if possible)

Our profits from previous windows + adding some spending money on top should be enough for this. Our wage bill is also lower than previous years, so should be fine as well.

With Spurs it's almost the case of 'if only'.

If only Levy had the balls to take more of a risk, if only we went for them this window.

Not trying to be damning here as Levy is sailing a steady ship; it's just how many times will we see a player who was seemingly attainable go onto shine and then be snatched up a bigger club.

There's been a succession of players of the years that this has happened to and Isco looks to be the latest of them.

If you look at our expenditure over the years in Jan (minus one anonmoly) you will realise this is all well and good hypothesising but it's extremely unlikely, basically not going to happen. The players you are proposing will be in excess of 50 million; do you really have an ounce of belief Levy is going to cough that kind of money up?
