the thing bout AVB and in fairness, some of the other names out there, is that they fit perfectly into DL's plan. Age, ambition, credentials and in some instances, highly recommended...and lets be fair what was HR's record like...equally you can pretty much cast that shadow over all managers at some point in their career...

He achieved more in 1 season with Porto than the likes of Rodgers, Martinez, Moyes have in their careers. Yes Porto have good players but you still have you to manage them/win games .... look at Inter Milan - awesome with Mourinho, he left - new manager had the same players and they ended up having a poor season.

I think thats a bit unfair, Ryan.
He's much better than Lennon. Lennon has stunk the joint out in the domestic cups, and it remains unclear who would have won the league, had Rangers not completely self destructed and slipped into the abyss. With the current quality of the league, Lennon should be picking up at least 1 cup a season with absolute ease, and most likely both since Rangers are fucked and Celtic have NO competition whatsoever. Porto at least had to contend with a Benfica side that has been pretty damn good for the past 5 odd years, and they also at least went the full way in the Europe League
AVB is ginger, but Lennon is a ginger thuggish turd.

I think him winning the waffa was more of an achievement that him winning the Portugese league in my opinion
It's a stronger league than Scotland for me. Also, going unbeaten in the league is an achievement as is winning the Europa League.
His man management skills had never been questioned before Chelsea. Many Porto players loved him.

yeah probably, but I think we need to remember the guy is still very young in managerial terms, but in my view he has talent and a lot of potential.

I think we do that regardless of who we get, we rightly or wrongly sacked a man that just delivered 4th. Even if DL could pull the biggest rabbit out of the hat, we would still be out there to be shot down. There is no candidate that doesn't carry an element of risk sadly.
