This is gathering real pace now within Journo circles. Lipton reporting it as practically nailed on and now Oliver Kay. If Rodgers was second choice behind Ancelotti then why the hell didn't we make a move for him before Liverpool? Maybe we moved on or weren't convinced when the time came..

If I were guessing Levy probably didn't want to sack him. Levy probably didn't expect Harry to have so much confidence in his right to demanding a new deal given that we missed out CL.

In fact I would go as far to say that Harry's tactics, and public maneuvering - not helped by his agent, have exacerbated Levy's frustration with him. In other words, Levy was annoyed and disappointed by our failure to not finish third and holds Harry accountable for that. I'm speculating that Levy probably thought Harry wouldn't be so forthright in terms of seeking a new deal and the way he's gone about it has completely compounded the negative feeling between the two and brought things to a head.

In short Levy's had enough, and no point delaying the inevitable when relations are only continuing to sour.

I just asked Lipton why he changed his tune and got this:

Daniel Linley ‏@D_Linley
@MartinLipton earlier you were saying the Redknapp rumours were just twitter, what has changed since then to make you publish story?

Martin Lipton ‏@MartinLipton
@D_Linley I said rumours that he'd gone were wrong. And that on knife-edge. That is extremely consistent

Good man!

well yeah....but he didn't really say it was a distinct possibility....Harry leaving in some shape or form that is...

Lipton is the one replying in the bottom tweet. I assume the Derrig bloke is refering to the H quotes about his resignation being untrue etc. Lipton responds that he's seen them and think H will be gone soon - i.e. that H has said he hasn't resigned doesn't mean anything other that. Not a statement that means H is staying and the rumours that he'll be gone are completely wrong etc.

I think.

Hardly a surprise that Redknapp hasn't quit and all the journos believe he hasn't quit. Why would he? He'd lose a payout. If Harry goes it'll be because Levy sacks him.

In Liptons defence he has been on Talksport a lot over the last few weeks saying there was a good chance Harry would be parting company with Spurs......

The Oliver Kay tweet is a big deal. Not in the sort of publication to just spread gossip (mostly).

It's come to this. Tottenham will appoint Adiepf as their new manager and next season we will start up front Lukaku and Fabiano behind Joe Cole.

With Rossi leading the line for the one game after he has recovered from his injury and before he has aggravated the same injury.

I hope this is 1000000% pre-contract stuff.

I can't believe that Lambert and Rodgers were ever high up the list or Levy would have sorted it out. My guess is Levy was not prepared to move for them after only one year of performing at the top and decided to let other clubs take that risk. The fact that we have not rushed a decision tells me that Levy's choice to take over is available. Say what you want about the man, but he's always been prepared. I expect he was not caught flat footed by this.

@_PaulHayward: Turning into an annus horriblis for Harry Redknapp, acquittal aside. Didn't get the England job and expected to part company with #Spurs

@SkyGraemeBailey: Harry Redknapp insists he has not quit as Spurs boss http://t.co/rfIa1OgY but a number of sources say he will lose his job in next 24 hours.

cant disagree with that.. he held all the aces at one stage and played it very very badly no matter how much he denies the england situation and how it played out. the key was getting us into champions league and he and the team failed miserbaly considering our dominance.

hard to see what will happen still if you ask me. if harry goes he has only himself to blame but i question letting him go cos who can we really get someone instead who is half decent? i really dont rate many managers linked, not one bit. what spurs needs is continuity and been stable and bringing 4 or 5 top players into a already decent squad. if we manage that we could be strong next year

DL is prudent and must have had the feelers out on potentials already, so i think we are prepared for it anyway but how far we have persued beforehand hand im not sure.

if he hasnt he should be shot ! seriously like geeting rid of players if you dont have anyone lined up and nailed on to take his place then something is really really wrong with club. if he has then i have no doubt any itk wud have not the foogiest clue who he has talked to. guardiola is out there and cud be got by his own admission and also blanc leaving after the euro's and also rumours of deschamps but while i wud love guardiola and be happy with blanc anyone else is a big no no for me.

far fron ideal situation no matter what way you look at it . typical spurs

So basically if Chelsea had lost a penalty shoot out we wouldn't be getting rid of Harry. Great logic Danny.
