I'll try and reserve my judgement until after the game tomorrow. I guess I'm still haunted by memories of Ramos saving King for Europa League games at the expense of Prem performances.

I do remember that, i also remember seeing a Spurs manager put out a weak side against Shaktar all those years ago, it cost me a arm and a leg to get there and our manager threw it away.

But for you to say I'm also of the view that a defeat would make little impact on supporters if we fielded reserves has to be a joke or very naive and like i say you do not strike me as being naive.

Shaktar was a QF, a bit different!

He wouldn't get slaughtered for putting out an entire under 21 team tomorrow, I should think it's what virtually all the fans want!

Untill/if the team get beaten and then i think you will be surprised at some fans reaction, the AVB haters would be all over him like a rash.

Its a game of football, i can see the difference but in this case there are many who want to see the back of AVB, are you seriously telling me thet you think that a defeat tomorrow would not give them more to slag him about?

Seriously if he played an under 21 team and put out the right PR pre game, then no I don't!

He takes a bigger risk by playing half a first team, if he loses then the shit will hit the fan! And like I say Lose Sunday and blame fatigue or an injury picked up tomorrow then I'm getting behind the sofa!

I'm sorry I just don't believe that, if he'd put out a complete under 21 team tomorrow I think only an idiot or people with a mission against him would complain!

A bit of pre game PR, 'we're not worried about the result and we think it's the perfect game to blood our under 21's, meanwhile we've left the first team group at home to prepare for Sunday'.

Who on earth would complain about that?

But imagine the uproar if we lose Sunday and he complains about fatigue or an injury picked up tomorrow, then he will be slaughtered!

I feel for him I really do but I think this is madness.

A certain section of the press and, sadly it seems, of Spurs fans, have the knives out for him.

The above would love to portray a slip-up against Tromso as a continuation of a rot - and wavering fans may well fall for that and take that atmosphere into the United game.

I, for one, can remember, a certain chorus on this very site specifically berating Mr Redknapp for playing the kids in a Europa game because it was (in their opinion) ridiculous that non-first teamers weren't getting a run-out when it was apparent that they needed to build up their fitness for whenever called upon, as it was clear to all to see that our non-first teamers were not in proper shape to perform at the level required when called upon.

No matter what AVB does right now there will be folk questioning it, complaining about it and, ultimately, condemning him for it.

Well i am sorry but i really do that you have got it wrong if you truly believe that.

Ok EddieBailey in the natch thread has just enlightened me to the fact that we're pretty much taking as many kids as we can!

Looks like I owe AVB an apology and his hands are actually somewhat tied!

I will write him a letter explaining that I'm a RB, he will fully understand what that means and forgive my stupidity!

Really? I think a lot of supporters would understand the reasoning behind it. Obviously the travelling support would probably feel very different, but most would understand. There was hardly an outcry when Harry fielded the youth team...and those were games where we hadn't already qualified.

As i have said earlier, there are fans who can not wait to see the back of AVB, not just on here but on other forums, and if you think they will not use a defeat tomorrow to give him more stick well then you must be naive after all ( sorry).

Oh I'm sure there will be some idiots looking for any excuse to criticise AVB, but that's going to happen whatever the result tomorrow.

I agree with L10 and Spurger here. I really don;t think the majority of the fans would care tomorrow if we win or lose with a youthful team.

The press can have their field day...fuck em, I'm pretty sure DL will care more about Sunday and he is teh one with the finger hovering over the button

You may be right, but that is not what i was on about someone posted no one would care if we lost and that is not true.

AVB's quote about "needing a response" in this meaningless game was disappointing to hear, and sounded like he's completely misunderstood the priorities of the fans. The majority want a response in the league. Trying to prove anything in this game will only hinder our chances against United, so again I think AVB is getting it wrong.

I'm also of the view that a defeat would make little impact on supporters if we fielded reserves.

I think he knows that SK. If you were him and were under a lot of pressure, what game would you like to put the emphasis on for our bounce back ability lol

Champions of England or Plumbers are us from the North Pole lol

We've already qualified! Can you imagine the reaction if AVB plays Verts and he breaks a leg? The most positive thing AVB can do is field a team of youth players, and if we lose, it's preferable to weakening our chances on Sunday.

If that makes me naive for crediting the majority of Spurs fans with being able to understand that...well then I'm naive.
