David Button and Joe Martin have both gone out on loan until the end of the season - to Rochdale and Blackpool respectively.

For those of you that don't know both are 19. Button is a (very highly rated) keeper and Martin primarily a left-back.

I don't see why we don't send the good ones on loan.

Maybe we don't trust the coaching staff or want the youngsters to become accustomed to the surroundings at the lodge better or what but we should be sending players like Kaboul and Taarabt on loan.

both will not make it at spurs

Always the ray of sunshine.

Button was recently awarded a ridiculously long contract, so someone obviously has faith in him.

Martin looked a terrific prospect when he first broke through to the reserves. (Liverpool were said to be trying to poach him.) He has been knocked back by injury, but for a Championship side to come in for him, he must still be considered a prospect.

like i said, they will not make it at spurs. that does not mean they will not have a future in the lower leagues

Sending the better youngsters that we have hopes for first team action soon will be detrimental to their development. We'd want them around to learn the proper football played by the first team rather than going on loan to play kick and rush footie.

Nah. O'Hara is a great example of how you can prove yourself at compettive lower league football and then come into the first team squad. Bentner @ Ar5ena1 and Beckham for utd are just two other examples of how it obviously does work to do it that way. I think it depends on the individuals and each should be dealt with on thier merits. I personally think young Taarabt would benefit from some league one or championship mid winter bootabouts rather than our reserves... who this year espeacially has included lots of academy players, rather than senior squad players and have been as a result markedly less competitive.
