So SCers, I thought I'd compile a quick list of all those teams that will be automatically involved in the 1st round of the UEFA Cup next season. We're missing the Scottish entrant because their league hasnae finished yet and I added Man City for some unknown reason.

SPURS
Sevilla
Valencia
Racing Santander
Everton
Man City
Portsmouth
Milan
Sampdoria
Udinese
Nancy
Saint-Etienne
PSG
Hamburg SV
Vfl Wolfsburg
Borussia Dortmund
Benfica
Maritimo
Vitoria Setubal
Rapid Bucharest
Dinamo Bucharest
Unirea Urziceni (romania)
Politehnica Timisoara (romania)
Feyenoord
Ajax
Heerenveen
Nec Breda
CSKA Moscow
Metalist Kharkiv (Ukraine)
Club Brugge
Banik Ostrava (Czech Rep)
Kayserispor (Turkey)

Don't worry about Milan, we turned them over 3-2 on aggregate in the 1971 UEFA Cup semi-final.

A select few of the other teams in the earlier stage of the competition:
FC Moscow
AEK Athens
Levski Sofia
Bangor City

Hi Miles - shouldn't our name be there - and there's no need to worry about Milan Seville etc in the first round as fortunately we'll be 'seeded' in the top half (assuming things go as they have done for last two years)

we did remarkably well in our first season back under Jol - when we were in bottom half of draw and then bottom seed in group and yet created an all time British record of 8 straight Euro wins (a record that still stands I believe)

It should be a very good tournament next season, and will make victory even sweeter should we win the final against a team like AC.

Really tough line up by the looks of things - but it will be great to see so many massive names in it.

Did PSG escape relegation in the end? Would have been truly shocking if they went down!

They and Toulouse escaped by the skin of their teeth. Lens went down with Strasbourg and Metz.

serious ? Thats a pretty good record to have

yep Reece it's a great record - but typically as we're not big 4 don't expect it to be repeated too often

I'm sure you remember our famous straight 8 - prague x 2 - beskitas bruges bayer bucharest then braga x 2

all the Bs knees :)

and as far as I know none of the big 4 - none of Celtic or Rangers or anyone else have matched that feat - google it :)

I don't think it's that biased to say we were probably the best side in the competition in 2006/7. We were very hard done by against Seville and they should never have had that penalty. We were the only side who played consistently well and got cheered off the ptich by the Besiktas fans. Man for Man, Werder and Seville both had better teams than us, but i think over the course of the competition we were possibly the stand out side.

Uefa Cup is a tough competition but I just hate the fact that 3rd placed CL teams come into the competition, there's no way that should be allowed.

yep Joey - that appalling apalling penalty changed everything - we were comfortable that night till then - the ref was a disgrace - even their second - no way was it a foul by Lee - and all night he let the Seville players do their dying swan routines with barely a telling off

I'm still mad about it I can tell you :)

agree - it hurt us big time with Hutton and Rangers - i'm still convinced we'd have beaten PSV had hutton been available

You guys will definitely be one of the favourites for it, particularly with Ramos now settled and the chance to strengthen this summer.

The two Spanish sides, Valencia and Sevilla, I'd make favourites at this early stage. Two strong sides that have good recent pedigree at european level.

Everton possibly outsiders if Moyes works well in the market this summer, but I just don't see it.

Milan.......unless they have a massive facelift this summer, I don't see them winning it. A side in decline, and they need to keep a hold of Kaka to have a chance.
