Aleksander Ceferin compared three of the clubs to 'Flat-Earthers' - as he suggested that the Premier League's Big Six could be shown leniency after pulling out of the plans first

If they punsish the players and the fans who had no say in this matter then i think we should withdraw our withdrawel from the super league. See how they like it then.

Shame they weren't as proactive in punishing systemic, age old corruption and greed within their own ranks. The hypocricy of it is quite staggering.

The whole situation is farcical.

Everyone is crediting the fans for standing up to the money grabbing antics of the super 12 but what has actually been achieved? We're going into a set of uefa club competitions which are almost as closed off as the proposed super league and they are now doing away with FFP protocols because simply they don't work. Grade A Bullshit

How is 12% of UCL places that are still merit based but over a longer period "almost" as closed off as 75% of ESL places not being merit based at all.

It's closed off because you are allowing the same teams into the competition despite the lack of merit. Why does 3rd in the English Premier League have more right to automatic qualification than Champions of Switzerland or Croatia for example.

That for me is closed off simply because you're favouring the leagues that generates more money, spend more on players/wages and as a result continue in the competition longer.

There have been teams that historically performed fantastically from the so called weaker league like the eastern European or the Scandinavian clubs in the early days of the competition. Since then they have been squeezed out and we give their places to the 4th placed Italian or German team.

It's akin to the frog in boiling water, just because it didn't happen overnight doesn't mean it's not noticeable

It's still merit that you're the best performing team over six years. It's obviously shit and needs to be scrapped ASAP, but it's still based on how well a team does over a set period. And it was 12% of places decided that way with the vast majority (same number of teams that are in the current format) still based on performance in the previous season

The ESL was not based on how well a team does over any period. And that's for 75% percent of places on the competition.

I didn't say it's a good thing. I just think it's
  1. an egregious false equivalence
  2. Something that is only happening because those ESL teams have been strong-arming the rest of Europe for years to win that change

The punishment will be a fine. €16000 and a warning not to do it again. Meanwhile any black player who walks off the pitch after being racially abused gets €100000 fine for being cheeky.

With the new CL proposals in a few years time it becomes even more ridiculous and difficult for the smaller clubs trying to breakthrough. I do agree though it's not in the same ballpark as the ESL in terms of unfairness but the next step is to look into the corrupt organisations such as UEFA an FIFA because right about now they're coming up trumps when in reality they're just as bad as the new proposed ESL and breakaway clubs, everyone is in it for themselves.

Definitely. Next stop Uefa. But we had to win last week's battle first.

The biggest farce about these scatterbrain plans is the plan to have a Women's ESL alongside the men's competition which I assume would contain the same clubs , Spurs Women in a Super League !!!! , try watching them it's painful.

the Club will probably get a bigger fine than UEFA give for racism, doping or what is happening in Qatar will the World Cup, we have seen in the past.

If they conspire with the prem league and they relegate us, we'd be in terrible trouble.
The debt we've taken on can only be serviced if we remain in the premiership or equivalent.
Levy gambled the whole club, and on monday it looked like he'd won. Now it is in the balance.

So if the punishments are terminal, we'd have to hope the esl was reborn.
If not, we have to admit the end was pretty spectacular,.
We would have failed reaching for the stars.

How can they punish the clubs? Based on what? They did not compete in this ESL. They intended but withdrew that intent. The clubs will fight any punishment in the court rooms and win.

Most likely punishment is a fine, PL will not relegate the 6 or make a points deduction, as the Villa man said it would be inflicting self harm on PL if they acted in that manner.

There is no way the PL are relegating unites, city, Liverpool, Chelsea, arsenal and us.

It will be interesting to see what punishments, as it seems however they do it they will be punishing the players, fans, and staff all of who had absolutely nothing to do with the ESL decision.
