Someone just posted this on another forum... so funny:

These are the Shankly Gates outside Anfield:

Here's the Liverpool Torres banner with the Shankly gates, and Chelsea's banner copied exactly:

Complete with Shankly Gates.

Amazing.

ultimate fail? to be honest it looks like a pretty bog standard pattern which bares only a passing resemblance to the gate

The best we can hope for is Chelsea continue to drop points and be in turmoil in the next 2 months; and we'll get 4th place.

If it does look like a gate it looks like any number of gates.
I hope the ultimate fail turns out to be £50 mil for Torres.

I find it amusing. Chelsea obviously haven't spotted an iconic but subtle simbol. And it is amusing that it is now on a banner carried to chelsea games. If say when berba went to Man utd, and they made a banner with a simbol of spurs we would give a laugh

But the bit at the bottom looks fuck all like that gate?

If Berba had gone to Man U and they had a picture of a tree behind him we wouldn't all be laughing because there are trees at our training ground. Would we?

But it doesnt matter if it looks like the gate or not, because if thats the the reason behind it being on the liverpool banner then it is quite funny IMO.

I find it more poetic because it is not easy to recognise. Its like the story of Arsenal always having a bit of blue in their kits as recognition of allowing them to play at WHL. Its because it isn't bright and obvious. The Shankly Gates mean a lot to Liverpool fans. They have the Shankly gates on their crest its as symbolic as our "Audere Est Facere" or even the gamecock on our shirts. Every Liverpool fan will recognise that little squiggle.

Alos this squiggle looks a lot like the gates on the liverpool crest.

Um, the joke is the Liverpool fan who thought that the tribal tattoo design on the flag looks anything like the gates or the gates on the badge...

It doesn't matter how badly done it is (ant tbh its actually pretty accurate if you smooth the edges and remove the shield), it quite clearly is meant to be the top of the iconic gates, by Chelsea keeping it when they made the Torres thing, they are suggesting that although Torres is a Chelsea player he is still a Liverpool icon, or liverpool at heart. They also bringing a little bit of liverpool into stanford Bridge.

You don't happen to write poetry, or analyse literature to look for the metaphorical meaning of things do you?

As its just a mistake by the Chelsea fans who made the banner, there is no deeper meaning than that. It certainly does not symbolise they are bringing a little bit of liverpool into the bridge

At most it shows the fans who made it are a bit unimaginative, lazy and (possibly) thick.

I think it's more of a scouser thing.
Because it's a gate (if it's a gate!) it's their gate, the original gate and their the only people that have gates.
We're probably going to get a Ricki Tomlinson video about this.
