How about players who everyone seems to love whom you don't really like for some reasons?

Ginola for me. Overated.

theres 2
(1) tarrico, he was a hard little bast*** and for too long we didnt have a player who would run into a wall if it meant winning the ball and he would. and what he did at hammers cancelling his contract when he picked up a long term injury just after signing for him shows what type of bloke he is.
he wasnt a bad player either infairness to him
(2) little lee - he was a seriously underestimated player, he was a left back who had kept most wingers very quiet that he came up against. media turned against him when that prat andy gray did a 2 minute rant about his height and thats all the media picked up on yet they completely missed his defensive play, his tackling and his positional sense. for me one of the most underrated players i have seen play for spurs (im 27 so havnt seen too many)

Yeah, I liked Tarrico as well. Jukebox was OK, same with Armstrong & Mido.

Brown might win it because he cost fuck all & offered quite a lot when we needed it i.e. when we were complete shit under Pleat.

Nothing against him but I can't believe Gary Doherty once played for us.

funny thing is though mate before he had the bad injury (think it was a broken leg) he looked like a good player with a lot of potential. whether that was just a run of good form or true talent we'll never know now but would be interesting to know what would of come of him if he hadnt gotten that bad injury

Ronnie Rosenthal

I echo this. I'll never forget Southampton 2 Spurs 6. A Ronny Rosenthal hat-trick coming off the bench.

Myself and my Liverpool supporting brother-in-law were doing cart-wheels around his living room as we came back from what looked to be the dead!

Happy days.

John Chiedozie, Nico Claesen and Johnny Methgod from back in the day....

Good shout John Chiedozie! Saying that I wouldnt call him unusual as he was in the first 11 most games. He was our lennon in that era. I wonder if he and Lennon were to have a one on one when both were at there fastest who would win? I would go for John as if I recall he gave up athletics for football after being a mid 10 sec 100 metre runner at the age of 15!

I dont remember Nayim being disliked or booed or jeered at WHL. I thought he was a firm favourite, as far as my memory recalls, so I dont think Nayim can be categorised under the unusual list can he?

Salty, good call - another underrated player, the opposite side to Lee in our meanest defence for some years.

When he left, i sent an email to his website saying bye and thanks

Paul Moran. Remember him and Howells coming on in a game when I think we were 3-0 down and those two combined to get us 2 back. They were magic that day and I always rated him after. Sadly, can't remember what happened to him!

Losing 2 - 1 to Boro at home, El Veg brought them both on quite late in the game. I was stood in the Paxton terrace and as they came on some Northern Irish fella shouted out " that's it Venables bring on the spotty faced kids " and everyone looked round and thought 'what a knob'. And so it proved.
Howells scored a very brave header and got clattered in the process, and then a long punt from the keeper (Parks? Mimms?) sent Moran through who got hacked down in the box. Terry Fenwick (can't believe no one's mentioned him yet ) stepped up and slotted it away right at the death and we won 3 - 2. Magic. Think it was 87 or 88 near the start of the season and it pissed down...
