Just been told we are definitely looking at Loach.

No idea if we are trying for anyone else as well, just know we have approached Watford about Loach.

Would prefer some foreign 'Cerny Mark II', particularly as it's just for 5 months till Cudicini gets back.

Gomes is only 28, so he's practically got a decade in him before we need to start thinking about a future #1.

Wasn't Cudicini on a 1 year deal? I could have sworn he was out of contract in the summer. And with the injury from the accident, can we really count on him being back 100% ?

Thanks for the info.

I don't see the point in signing a young No.2 when, as B&K said, Gomes is only 28. It's not as if Gomes is ancient and will retire in a year or two. He'll be our keeper for years to come(hopefully) and Loach isn't going to get many games and won't progress sitting on the bench.

 sorry storts, didn't mean to steal your thunder!

At least it means we're both on the same track :)

Credit goes to you if we sign him though  lets be fair about this!

would prefer Westwood. best keeper in that division by a distance but unlikely to go anywhere unless he's No.1 although he'll fancy his chances if he got games to keep his place. Sunderland will get him while Gordon is out and gordon will not be able to get back in. keep an eye on that one.

I'd be surprised if we got someone young rather than someone with experience. I don't see anyone dislodging Gomes any time soon so a youngster would just end up rotting on the bench as keeper isn't a position that's usually rotated. We need an old head who can come in when needed and be calm and confident.

You mean like Cudicini!

Is Alnwick really that bad that he won't do us until the summer! If Gomes were to get badly Injured can't we then get one of those emergency dispensations if we really needed it?

From what I've seen of Alnwick, yes he is that bad.

Loach looked awful against Chelsea, would prefer to go for Lewis as it seems that he really is the next big thing.
