But taken from FTL so might not be exact quote...

"Will write a proper post later when I have a bit of time.
Couple of things, Lennon out for 3 weeks max, should be back for the Leeds game, we are also sniffing around Micah Richards, he wants to come, but City need a replacement first, nothing happening with this yet, but it has legs. As I said will update properly later with more detail!"

Yeah, it's pretty much to the punctuation. It was basically a welcome back thread, as he's been away for a few weeks.

Micah Richards would be decent cover. How good he is though, or how highly he's rated is another thing. Word is that the City hierachy believe he's, for want of a better word, shite.

What a fall from the guy that was being linked with £15m - £20m moves to Manchester United and Arsenal two years ago.

I think he'd be worth a punt, he's strong and quick. He's only a month older than Dervite, only 21, which people seem to forget. I also remember him playing centre mid a few times, including against us, and he was pretty good, so he's very versatile as well.

It would be a very good "back up" but I can't see him coming to us as a back up as there are plenty of other clubs in the prem who would take him as a first teamer - don't think this will happen

Cough *Bentley*

I think Bentley was seen as the perfect foil for Lennon. In hindsight, it was actually money well spent, as it gave Lennon the kick up the arse he needed to perform well, which ironically kept Bentley out of the team.

Well played Levy. Oh, and Ramos, of course...

I'm not sure about Richards. He iimpressed initially but I think he flattered to impresss due to his physique and speed. It's his footballing ability and reading of the game that are the big question marks. I'm all for buying young players who might improve, like we did with Lennon, Carrick, Huddlestone, but the part of the reason those were good deals were that they didn't cost the earth. I'm concerned that buying Richards would be like spending £8m+ on another Kaboul mistake and that's too much money to gamble when we could spend circa £12 on a much more proven talent or even less on an experience head.

I don't know if we'd be earmarking Richards for a particular position but I'd say he is definately inferior to Corluka. If we were aiming to use him at Centre Back, I'd rather get someone like Upson who has the experience to slot in right away and make a difference. If we're looking at Richards for midfield, then we should be looking at midfielders instead.

I'm pro Richards. A lot of promising youngsters go through a tough path, confidence etc. Think we'd get the best out of him.

Not fancying Richards really as I think we already have better right backs and a better CB in Bassong.

That said, he is a good Leeds lad and would be anothr addition to Spurs' growing list of Yorkshire puddings.

Or ruin him, like we've done with a few of our current youngsters...

I really would like this happening for long time, Richards is decent player ( at least ) who can develop to one of the best in the country, he is the option for us in market for several reasons as you don't want average A. Ferdinand or expensive Upson who also had his record with injuries.

Richards will provide a backup for Corluka ( in case of Hutton is leaving - also because he suffered serious injuries before ) and also is long term replacement for King due to his injuries. So he is one player in two.

Corluka - Richards - Bassong - Ekotto

so this is also fair for Dawson as he can play if one of Corluka or Richards or Bassong is missing.

Richards - Dawson - King/Woody - Ekotto
or
Corluka - Dawson - Richards/King- Ekotto

Richards is (as they say in the states) a talent with considerable upside. He'd come in and be at least a decent rotation player at right back and centre back. However, if Harry could perform a task similar to the one he performed with Glen Johnson, Richards has more than enough potential to be a superstar at 25 or so.

Remember how unsteady Dawson was at times when he was that age, and how imperious he's been this year?

If it's 6M or less it's a gamble worth taking.

Naughton, Walker, corluka, hutton............do we really need him?

No. I can't believe that we can be this blind to other areas that need strengthening way before rb/cb.

I'd say bye bye Hutton and possibly bye bye Naughton and Walker (loan deals).

Micah, step right up.

So where does that leave Naughton and Walker once they return?

If it's 6M or less it's a gamble worth taking.

It will be closer to double that.

OH and shame about Lennon, was hoping it was all a ploy to confuse Rafa and to unleash him against them on Sunday

I feel he'sa bit like Bale. He has loads of good points but (at the moment) too many defensive frailties which undermine him.

I can see Harry getting something out of Richards, but I think it would take plenty of time. Is he a right back? Does he have the positional sense to play as a centre back? Most importantly of all, will he get games??

If his signing is to work out one of King or Woody must be in trouble, and Hutton and Naughton/Walker are not rated. Otherwise I cannot see him getting games.

It might be a case of seeing if we can get him for a steal.
