21....going on 12.

Remember the position we are in at the moment. We have Corluka, a young and experienced international fullback. We have Hutton, also a fairly young and international (although Scotland isnt Croatia) fullback. We have Naughton and Walker, both prospects who we have on the books gaining experience in the Championship, I think they are also U21 or U18 international (Correct me if im wrong)

Richards does not provide any immediate improvement to our team currently sat 4th chasing champions league spots. Will he provide the improvement in the future? Maybe, but it will be at the detriment to Naughton and Walker who arguably would also improve and Corluka who is also young enough to still improve also.

Most defenders dont mature until they reach 26 or 27 so why not get the best of Corluka and integrate our youth players rather than spanking another 15mill on a player that will lose value and be sold on within 18 months. I prefer not to.

for all those who say Corluka has a lack of pace, i have seen him play most of the Premierships left wingers and I have only seen him uncomfortable against one player (A Young). I ask why his "lack of pace hasnt been shown up before". It is also arguable that one of the league most consistent fullbacks over the last 15 years, Gary Neville, playing in the most succesful team in the league, is devoid of any pace whatsoever - how does that work?

I agree with it all locotoro, Corlukaa appears to have enough pace to overlap Lennon (not easy) and still get back.

He looks slow, but he is 6 ft 4 and takes giant strides.

I agree with locotoro with one caveat.

Ashley Young didn't make Charlie look uncomfortable. After Young had destroyed the genuinely fast Zokora in the first half last season, Corluka came on, gave a defensive masterclass and put lil' Ashley in his pocket.

Does seem a strange one particularly as I suspect it would take alot of cash to get him.

As discussed at right back we have plenty of options and I think Bassong has got the 'pacey backup to Ledley King' position pretty much nailed down (I use the word backup loosely as Seb already looks like a consistent member of our first team).

The only reason I can see it making sense is that Harry wants a defensive alrounder to have in the squad to add a bit of depth (and Richards can play as a defensive midfielder as well) but it seems like a lot of cash to spend for that.

He reminds me of a young Glen Johnson, brilliant at Spammers crap at Chelsea then Harry got him to become a world beater again.
